    Abstract: The invention relates to new organosilanes represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R denotes a methyl, ethyl, propyl, or phenyl radical; R' denotes a monovalent hydrocarbon group having from 7 to 21 carbon atoms; R" denotes hydrogen or a methyl radical; R"' is selected from the class consisting of monovalent hydrocarbon groups having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms and acyl groups having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms; p has the value of 0, 1 or 2; m has the value of 1, 2, or 3; m+p has the value of 2 or 3; y has an average value from 1 to 20; n is a positive integer from 1 to 7; and q is a positive integer from 1 to 5. The use of the organosilanes as lubricants for magnetic recording media is described.
