    Abstract: A system can facilitate detection of 1, 5-anhydroglucitol (1, 5-AG) present in a saliva sample. The saliva sample can be placed in contact with a portion of a sensing device that includes a 1, 5-AG sensor. An indicator of a concentration of 1, 5-AG in the saliva sample can be detected by the 1, 5-AG sensor. The 1, 5-AG sensor can send the indicator to a computing device that includes a processing unit. The processing unit can execute instructions stored in non-transitory memory to receive the indicator; measure an amount of 1, 5-AG in the saliva sample based on the indicator; and provide an output related to the amount of 1, 5-AG in saliva sample. The amount of 1, 5-AG in the saliva sample can be used as a diagnostic property for a subject who produced the saliva sample.
