  • Patent number: 10192240
Abstract: A method and apparatus of processing a call are disclosed. One example method may include receiving a request at a server for dealer information. The request may be initiated by a user via his or her mobile station. The example method may also include determining whether there is user preference information and user location information included in the request. The information may be used to limit the amount of search results to increase relevancy. The method may also include searching a database for at least one dealer based on the user preference information and the user location information, and transferring the at least one dealer information to the user.

  • Patent number: 6421537
Abstract: An improved home location register (HLR) that includes a switch capability mediation module for implementing switch capability mediation between different mobile switching centers (MSCs). According to the invention, when one MSC (home MSC of a receiving party) attempts to communicate with another MSC (serving MSC) via the HLR serving the home MSC, the mediation module determines whether the two MSCs are provided by different vendors and whether they implement different capabilities, based on the MPCM (MSC ID Point Code Map) file records of both the originating and serving MSCs. The MPCM files store MSCs' network configuration information.

  • Patent number: 6226511
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allowing an Authentication Center (AC) in a cellular telephone system to order SSD update and unique challenge operations only if the receiving MSC/VLR is receptive to performing them. The AC has access to an MPCM file that indicates the circumstances under which each MSC/VLR in the system will perform SSD updates and unique challenges. Thus, whenever the AC determines that it is desirable to send either an SSD update or a unique challenge, the AC first checks the MPCM file to determine whether the message should be sent. If the database indicates that the MSC/VLR will not attempt the operation, the AC does not request the operation.

  • Patent number: 6173174
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allowing an Authentication Center (AC) to configure whether or not to perform automated A-key updating for a handset if an authentication failure occurs during an operation attempted by the handset. The AC has access to a Subscriber database describing, among other things, an “alternate A-key” for at least some of the subscribers. The AC also has access to database that contains configuration information about various MSCs in the system.
