Abstract: A portable device for locking a door in the closed position that fits over a hinge on the door. The device is of a shape and size capable of locking many different door sizes having hinges of various sizes and has two arms extending from a circular inner portion that encircles the hinge when the device is applied. The device may contain a ratchet in the circular inner portion to facilitate locking many different door sizes. Application is quick and easy by sliding the device over the hinge, and if the device includes a ratchet, ratcheting the arms in place, and removal is equally as effortless by sliding the device off of the hinge. Removal may also include resetting the arms by depressing a release pin that disengages the ratchet.
