    Abstract: The present invention relates to an immunogenic composition including multivalent pneumococcal polysaccharide-protein conjugates. Each conjugate includes capsular polysaccharides of different pneumococcus serotypes conjugated to a carrier protein. More concretely, the present invention is a multivalent immunogenic composition including polysaccharide-protein conjugates. Each of the polysaccharide-protein conjugates includes Streptococcus pneumoniae-derived capsular polysaccharides of different serotypes conjugated to a carrier protein. The capsular polysaccharides include a) capsular polysaccharides of one or more serotypes selected from the group consisting of serotypes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F, and b) capsular polysaccharides of one or more serotypes selected from the group consisting of serotypes 10A, 11A, 12F, 15B, 22F, 23A, and 35B.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for effectively isolating and purifying a physiological active dauer pheromone compound having the following structural formula I related to aging and stress of C. elegans, and determination of the structure of such material. First, ethanol extract is prepared by completely concentrating a liquid medium with ethanol after culturing C. elegans on a S. basal liquid medium, and then this ethanol fraction is further extracted with ethyl acetate. Then, impurities are removed from ethyl acetate extract by a silica-gel adsorption chromatography and a pheromone extract is isolated and purified by amine column chromatographic procedures using various solvents as eluent. Finally, a pheromone compound having structural formula I is completely isolated and characterized by size-exclusion HPLC.

    Abstract: A fireworks device having a body that is constructed of a single flexible sheet, which is folded around a tubular reservoir and forms front and rear opposable surfaces allowing a user to grip said surfaces and operate the fireworks device with one hand. The device includes a trigger that protrudes outwardly from the body near the front surface and is depressable to activate a discharge firecracker located within the reservoir. Upon activation, the discharge firecracker creates pressure sufficient to project contents from the reservoir outward and in a direction desired by a user. The contents preferably include confetti in the form of streamers and impact initiated firecrackers.
