  • Patent number: 10909978
Abstract: Technologies for secure storage of utterances are disclosed. A computing device captures audio of a human making a verbal utterance. The utterance is provided to a speech-to-text (STT) service that translates the utterance to text. The STT service can also identify various speaker-specific attributes in the utterance. The text and attributes are provided to a text-to-speech (TTS) service that creates speech from the text and a subset of the attributes. The speech is stored in a data store that is less secure than that required for storing the original utterance. The original utterance can then be discarded. The STT service can also translate the speech generated by the TTS service to text. The text generated by the STT service from the speech and the text generated by the STT service from the original utterance are then compared. If the text does not match, the original utterance can be retained.

  • Patent number: 8861737
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and/or system are provided for establishing trust between an accessory device and a host device, using a global key known to both the host device and the accessory device, so that content protection for subscriber-based mobile broadcast services is provided. A secure link may be established between the accessory device and the host device so that when the accessory device receives encrypted content via a secured forward link only network, the accessory device may decrypt the content at the forward link only stack. The content is then re-encrypted/re-secured using one or more derived encryption keys and then sent to the host device where it may be decrypted and played back. A global key, unique to the particular device type of the host device, is employed to ultimately derive the session encryption keys used to re-encrypt/re-secure the content conveyed from the accessory device to the host device.

  • Publication number: 20140133656
Abstract: Methods, systems and devices enable synchronizing obscured identification information between a wireless identity transmitter and a central server to support one-way communication of the obscured identification information to the central server. The wireless identity transmitter may be a compact device configured to broadcast messages, such as through Bluetooth® advertisements, including an obscured identifier for receipt and relay to the central server by proximate proximity broadcast receivers via sighting messages that may also include location information. The central server may decode received identification codes to identify the wireless identity transmitter. The wireless identity transmitter may create message data by concatenating identifying information with an incrementing nonce, encrypting the concatenated information, and truncating the encrypted information.

  • Patent number: 8627184
Abstract: A method and/or apparatus are provided for protecting control information during broadcasts in a system where primary and second mobile broadcast control messages (PMBCM and SMBCM) are utilized. In order to protect the SMBCM, a first hash information instance is computed based on hashes for each a plurality of control data blocks for the SMBCM. The first hash information instance is appended to the PMBCM. Error-correcting code words are generated for the plurality of hashes for the plurality of control data blocks for the SMBCM. These error-correcting code words are appended to the control data blocks of the SMBCM. A receiver uses the first hash instance information in the PMBCM to determine if any control data blocks of the SMBCM are corrupt. If so, the error-correcting code words may be used to reconstruct the corrupted hash(es) for the control data block(s) in order to authenticate the remaining control data blocks.

  • Publication number: 20120003923
Abstract: A mobile broadcast system configured to provide time-based merchandising and access control includes: a distribution module configured to transmit system information to a user device, wherein the system information includes time-based subscription information for one or more service packages, to receive a subscription request indicating a selected service package, to determine if the user device is authorized to receive the selected service package; and to transmit a subscription response to the user device.

  • Publication number: 20100153709
Abstract: In the present system three methods are provided for establishing trust between an accessory device and a host device, without placing trust in the device/host owner, so that content protection for subscriber-based mobile broadcast services is provided. That is, a secure link may be established between the accessory device and the host device so when the accessory device receives encrypted content via a forward link only network, the accessory device may decrypt the content at the forward link only stack and then re-encrypt it or re-secure it using the master key or some other derived key based on the master key (or the session key) and then send it to the host device which can decrypt it play it back.
