  • Patent number: 5715704
Abstract: A refrigeration system including a flow control expansion valve. A valve body defines a valve inlet for accepting refrigerant and a valve outlet for delivering refrigerant that has passed through the valve body. A metering head defines first and second passageways for fluid passing through the valve body. A cylindrical sleeve is mounted for controlled movement within the valve body and including a center passageway which in combination with the first and second passageways conveys fluid through the valve body to the valve outlet. A spring urges the sleeve in a direction relative the metering head to maintain both the first and second passageways in fluid communication with the center passageway of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5177973
Abstract: A flow control valve is disclosed in a household refrigeration appliance having a vapor compression refrigeration system comprising a cyclically operated compressor, a condenser, an evaporator and an expansion device between the condenser and the evaporator. The refrigerant flow control valve is disposed between the condenser and the evaporator and comprises a housing defining a refrigerant flow chamber for receiving liquified refrigerant from the condenser outlet, valve seat structure defining a refrigerant flow port for communicating refrigerant from the condenser to the evaporator, and a flow controlling valve assembly coacting with the valve seat structure to control the refrigerant flow from the refrigerant flow chamber to the expansion device. The flow control valve controls system refrigerant flow in response to subcooling, blocks refrigerant flow from the condenser when the compressor is cycled off and enables circulation of hot gaseous refrigerant under extreme high temperature ambient conditions.

  • Patent number: 4778105
Abstract: A control device is disclosed comprising a supporting housing assembly, a controller switch fixed to the housing, an expansible chamber actuator supported by the housing for actuating the switch, a capillary tube joined to the actuator, and a vibration damper for minimizing vibrational flexure of the capillary tube, the damper defining a first end fixed to the housing, a second end remote from the housing and a passage extending between the ends closely surrounding the capillary tube.

  • Patent number: 4667069
Abstract: A pressure responsive control device having a pressure housing assembly defining a pressure chamber, an actuable controller fixed to the housing assembly and, a pressure transducer hermetically closing the pressure chamber. The transducer includes plural duplicate snap acting pressure responsive diaphragms, a diaphragm control plate hermetically bonded to the diaphragms and a support member hermetically joined between the control plate and the housing assembly. The diaphragms each are formed from thin sheets of spring metal and includes a central dome section having a surface finish less than 6 microinches A.A. on both sides. The diaphragms are nested together so that confronting faces of the dished sections are engaged when the diaphragms flex.
