Abstract: Alien crosstalk suppression cores are used to decrease alien crosstalk in communications channels. Electrical communication cables may be provided with alien crosstalk suppression cores. The alien crosstalk suppression cores, which may be ferrite suppression cores, are placed separately on some or all of the twisted pairs within a communication cable. The alien crosstalk suppression cores reduce ANEXT and AFEXT in high-frequency communications when communication cables are installed near one another. Alien crosstalk suppression cores may also be incorporated into other communication channel components, such as on a PCB within a communication jack.

Abstract: An intelligent network patch field management system is provided that includes electronic hardware, firmware, mechanical assemblies, cables, and software that provide visible and audible cues for connecting and disconnecting patch cords in an interconnect or cross-connect patching environment. Systems of the present invention also monitor patch cord connections in a network.

Abstract: A patch cord for an intelligent patching system is provided. The patch cord is a ten-wire patch cord having a patch panel plug and a switch plug. The patch panel plug contains ninth and tenth wire contacts that interface with ninth and tenth wire contacts of an intelligent patch panel port. The switch plug is provided with a plunger-style switch that enables the intelligent patch panel to determine when the switch plug is plugged into a switch port. The switch plug is also provided with LED's and circuitry that controls the LED's.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for evaluating and/or predicting thermodynamic behavior within a particular area, and more specifically, to systems and methods which, at least in some embodiments, use computational fluid dynamics to compute and/or predict thermodynamic behavior of data centers and the like. Embodiments of the present invention include the ability to validate the calibration of computational models in order to improve output accuracy.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a faceplate assembly. The faceplate assembly includes a backing plate and a plurality of cover plates that mount to the backing plate. The baking plate has an opening that receives at least six modules. Each cover plate includes a center opening corresponding to the modules received in the backing plate.

Abstract: A shuttered adapter is described that includes a shuttered housing, a shutter sub-assembly frame contained within the housing, a pair of shutter doors hingedly secured to the shutter sub-assembly frame, and a door spring configured to push the shutter doors outward from the shutter sub-assembly frame and away from each other. The shuttered housing can have a separable sleeve retention insert Which allows a ledge to be molded inside the shuttered housing. The ledge can be configured to abut the front lower surface of the shuttered doors when the doors are pushed outward from the shutter sub-assembly frame.

Abstract: An intelligent network patch field management system and specialized cross-connect cable are provided to help guide, monitor, and report on the process of connecting and disconnecting patch cords plugs in a cross-connect patching environment. The system is also capable of monitoring patch cord connections to detect insertions or removals of patch cords or plugs. The cross-connect cable is provided with LED's in both of the cable plugs. When only one plug of the cross-connect cable is plugged into a port, the LED associated with that plug is switched out of the circuit, while the LED in the unplugged plug remains in the circuit and can still be illuminated by the system.

Abstract: A wire containment cap with a flexible seat is presented. The seat sits below an opening in the rear of the wire containment cap. The seat has a base with a pair of flexible members initially extending upwards from opposite sides of the base and then curve towards each other. In one embodiment the ends of the flexible members can curve down and towards each other in order to better conform to the shape of a cable. Alternatively the seat can be replaced with a U-shaped saddle with flexible arms supported by a post.

Abstract: An active patch panel uses small form factor plus (SFP+) connectivity with a plurality of channels extending between first and second faces of the panel. The channels connect ports on the opposing faces of the panel and are provided with additional electronic elements, such as an equalizer, a clock data recovery element, and a pre-emphasis element. A controller can be connected to the plurality of channels to provide instructions for simultaneous equalization and pre-emphasis of a plurality of cable assemblies in the same channel.

Abstract: A wire marker is provided. A carrier strip includes a first layer having at least one opening, two bands applied to opposite edges of the first layer, the bands including an adhesive on at least one side, and a label secured into the opening and attached to the adhesive. At least one access perforation may be located on the first layer that is horizontal and adjacent to one side of the opening. The access perforation facilitates removal of the label from the carrier and allows for insertion of a cable through the label. A plurality of horizontal carrier perforations may further be located between each opening on the first layer to facilitate removal of the carrier strip from a printer.

Abstract: A cable mount for carrying a bundle of cables comprises a base comprising a slot for receipt of a cable tie, a shaft connected to the base and a head connected to the shaft, the head for securing the cable mount to a cable tray through an opening. The cable mount may be secured to the tray by rotating the mount less than 180 degrees, such that a length of the head of the cable mount is transverse to a length of the opening in the cable tray. The cable mount is easy to use and may be installed without the use of tools.

Abstract: A fiber tray for managing and organizing fiber distribution is disclosed. The fiber tray includes a housing and a drawer received in the housing. The housing is secured to an equipment rack. The housing includes inner sides with a glide mechanism extending the length of each inner side. The glide mechanism includes a first end and a second end. The glide mechanism also includes at least one curved path located at one of the first end and the second end. The drawer includes a bottom, a first side, a second side, a front and a back. The first and second sides of the drawer have a pin. The pins extending from the sides of the drawer slide within the glide mechanism to enable the drawer to be retracted, extended or removed from the housing.

Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a cable tie mount. The cable tie mount includes a body and a mount. The mount includes a top, a bottom, sides, and a channel therethrough. The body has a base member with a mounting hole and a receiving member with a locking hole. The receiving member extends at an angle from the base member. The mount is installed on the receiving member of the body such that the receiving member is positioned within the channel of the mount.

Abstract: A re-terminable, no-crimp ST-type optical connector assembly includes a spring-loaded ferrule holder assembly and a reusable activation system for termination of the assembly. The optical connector can be terminated by a suitable cam activation tool. The connector includes a housing, such as a bayonet, matable to a mating adapter, a backbone retained within a rear of the housing, a ferrule holder provided within the backbone, and a cam provided between the ferrule holder and the backbone. The ferrule holder includes an alignment key exposed to mate with a cam activation tool to lock rotation of the ferrule holder relative to other connector components. The cam includes a cam activation cutout at a front face thereof that mates with a cam activation tool interface to enable rotation of the cam between de-activated and activated positions, the cam activation cutout also receiving the alignment key of the ferrule holder therethrough.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to network connectors, and more particularly, to apparatuses, systems, and methods associated with network jacks having compatibility with more than one plug and corresponding plugs. In one embodiment, the present invention is a jack having multiple printed circuit boards, wherein each circuit board is used for connection to a particular style of a plug. In one embodiment, the jack according to the present invention is compatible with an RJ45 plug.

Abstract: A matrix tape with conductive segments. The conductive segments are preferably provided on two layers of the matrix tape. The conductive segments can be attached to a film with an adhesive. A barrier tape is preferably applied between the cable core and the matrix tape.

Abstract: A blockout device for a USB port is disclosed. The USB port has an inner channel and metal clips positioned within the channel. The blockout device has a front that covers the inner channel of the USB port. The blockout device also includes a top, a bottom and sides extending from the front. The bottom extends parallel to the top with an open area therebetween. When the blockout device is installed in the USB port, the sides engage the metal clips positioned in the channel of the USB port to secure the blockout device to the USB port.

Abstract: An apparatus for retaining a plug in an outlet is provided. The apparatus includes a body and a pair of arms extending from opposite sides of the body. The body includes a retaining tab for retaining the plug in the outlet and a pair of locking tabs extending from opposite sides of the retaining tab for locking the retaining tab to the plug. Additionally, or in the alternative, each of the arms includes a safety loop for preventing the arms from being electrically connected to the outlet.

Abstract: The present invention provides a communication jack for connecting to one of a first plug and a second plug. The jack includes a housing, plug interface contacts, and coupling circuitry. The plug interface contacts are at least partially within said housing and include a plurality of contact pairs having at least a first contact pair and a second contact pair. The coupling circuitry is configured for engaging said first contact pair and said second contact pair when said first plug is inserted into said housing. The coupling circuitry is configured for disengaging from said first contact pair and said second contact pair when said second plug is inserted into said housing.
