  • Patent number: 9949234
Abstract: A method is disclosed of a wireless communication device adapted to communicate using a radio access transceiver alternatingly in accordance with a first radio access technology and in accordance with a second radio access technology. The method comprises allocating a number of time periods during communication in accordance with the first radio access technology to reception of a paging signal of the second radio access technology, wherein the number is dynamically variable based on a result of a (block) decoding of at least one previous paging signal of the second radio access technology. The number may be set based on at least one respective previous number of time periods required for successful (block) decoding of the at least one previous paging signal. Furthermore, the number may be set to a maximum value if an immediately previous paging signal was not successfully decoded.

  • Patent number: 9693272
Abstract: An efficient way is described for a user equipment, camping on a cell of a first radio access technology, RAT, to perform measurements on the transmissions from a neighboring radio cell of a different RAT. Recurrent time gaps that are available for making the measurements are not correlated or synchronized with the recurrent times at which the desired information are transmitted by the transmitter in the second RAT. Therefore, mapping is performed of the time gaps onto the interval at which the desired information is transmitted. The mapping continues until a time interval is covered that ensures that the information in the recurring desired block of information can be obtained. During the mapping of the measurement gaps, only those time intervals that have not already been covered by the mapping are used for obtaining the desired information.

  • Patent number: 9628885
Abstract: A radio includes controls operatively disposed on a face panel. A 3.5 millimeter audio jack is disposed on or through the face panel. The audio jack has four contacts including a microphone contact. A microphone is disposed on or in the face panel to transduce sound received at the face panel. The microphone is electrically connected via a microphone output circuit to the microphone contact. A normally open switch has a switch actuator button disposed on the face panel. The switch is to connect the microphone output circuit to an electrical ground when the switch is closed. The audio jack is to electrically connect the radio to circuits of a smartphone including a smartphone left speaker output circuit, a smartphone right speaker output circuit, a smartphone ground circuit and a smartphone microphone input circuit.

  • Patent number: 9277521
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for synchronizing a radio device with a network node of a Global System for Mobile Communications, GSM, radio communication system. The method comprises obtaining a reference array based on a known training sequence, TSC, of a synchronization burst, SB, of a synchronization channel, SCH, of the network node. The method also comprises receiving an SB including the TSC from the network node and forming a received array. The method also comprises comparing the reference array to the received array for finding a sequence of the received array which has identity with the reference array, and thereby finding the position of the TSC in the received SB. The method also comprises determining whether the identity of the found sequence with the reference array is above a predefined threshold, in which case the radio device can be time synchronized based on the found TSC.

  • Patent number: 9088942
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for improving the performance of frequency offset estimation in scenarios where reception of a data block is terminated early. When the reception of a data block is terminated early, the wireless communication receiver may regenerate the entire data block using information that is known to the wireless communication device. The regenerated data block may then be used for frequency offset estimation to increase the number of symbols available for frequency offset estimation.

  • Patent number: 8989145
Abstract: Systems and method provide for cell reconfirmation methods for a multi-Radio Access Technology (RAT) capable User Equipment (UE). A method for performing a cell reconfirmation method by a multi-Radio Access Technology (RAT) capable User Equipment (UE), the method includes: performing, by the UE, cell reconfirmation using information derived from a Normal Burst (NB) of a transmitted Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) radio signal, wherein the cell reconfirmation verifies an identity of a GSM cell associated with the transmitted GSM radio signal. The method can further include: operating the multi-RAT capable UE in a serving cell of a first RAT; and selecting the cell reconfirmation method to reconfirm a Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication neighbor cell located in a second RAT which is a GSM RAT, wherein a first cell reconfirmation method uses a received Normal Burst (NB) and a second cell reconfirmation method uses a received Synchronization Burst (SB).
