Abstract: A photographic element comprising a film support base, an adhesion promoting layer, a subbing layer and at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the adhesion promoting layer is close to the support and contains a silane compound and a polyurethane, and the subbing layer, selected within the group consisting of a hydrophilic colloidal layer or a layer comprising a continuous gelled network of inorganic particles, is positioned between the adhesion promoting layer and the emulsion layer. The present invention also refers to a photographic element comprising a film support base having coated on one side thereof at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and on the opposite side thereof an adhesion promoting layer and at least one auxiliary layer, wherein the adhesion promoting layer is close to the support and contains a silane compound and a polyurethane.

Abstract: One object of the present invention is to provide a mixture composed of 1) a cellulose ether derivative esterified at least with a biprotic acid group derivative expressed by the formula HOOC—B—COOH (I), wherein B is a linear aliphatic group represented by (CH2)x with x a positive integer from 1 to 5 or is a 5-member or 6-member cycloaliphatic group and 2) a cellulose or cellulose derivative esterified at least with a phthalic acid derivative represented by the following formula (II). wherein R1 is an all group and y is a positive integer from 0 to 3. Said mixture shows an enhanced stability against hydrolysis when subjected to conditioning at high relative humidity and temperature. The composition may be useful in order to get antihalation layer on photographic films as well as enteric coating of pharmaceutical dosage and for controlled-release applications such as for cleaning formulation.

Abstract: A base film including a substrate, an adhesion layer, a conductive layer, and a magnetic layer is provided. The adhesion layer preferably includes a sulfonated polyester/vinyl addition polymer, wherein the adhesion layer is disposed between the substrate and the conductive layer and improves adhesion between these layers, even under wet conditions. An adhesion layer is particularly useful in photographic elements and is at least located on a surface of the substrate that is opposite a silver halide emulsion layer, although emulsion receptivity can be enhanced by including an adhesion layer on the emulsion-side of the substrate.

Abstract: A photographic element comprising a polymeric film base, a silver halide emulsion layer, and an antistatic layer comprising a colloidal vanadium oxide and a vinyl addition polymer dispersion in a dry weight ratio of from 1:30 to 1:500. The antistatic layer may be present as a backing layer on the side of the base opposite the silver halide emulsion layer, as a subbing layer between the base and the emulsion layer in a single or double side coated photographic element, and/or as a subbing layer between the base and a different backing layer. No barrier layer is used over the antistatic layer.
