  • Patent number: 5468823
Abstract: Semicrystalline manufactured articles made of syndiotactic poly-p-methylstyrene (s-PpMS) in a crystalline form having a high melting point (225.degree. C.), and processes for the preparation thereof. Processes for preparing semicrystalline manufactured articles (semi-finished products, formed articles, fibers, films, etc.) made of s-PpMS in its different crystalline forms by exposure of amorphous manufactured articles to suitable solvents and by subsequent thermomechanical treatments.

  • Patent number: 5183853
Abstract: Articles of syndiotactic styrene polymer where the polymer is present predominantly in a new crystalline form characterized by an X-ray spectrum which presents reflections of maximum intensity at 2 .theta.of 12.2.degree. and 20.0.degree., where in the 2 .theta. range from 15.degree. to 18.degree. no reflections of appreciable intensity appear.

  • Patent number: 4931325
Abstract: This invention relates to composite manufactured articles formed by a set of uniaxially oriented isotatic polypropylene films, having a resistance to delamination of at least 0.4 kg/cm are prepared by heating under pressure a plurality of isotatic polypropylene films superimposed to each other and separated from each other by a non oriented polypropylene films. The oriented films show an orientation of the crystalline phase such as to produce X-ray scattering angles .DELTA..times. equal to or lower than 10.degree.. The non oriented film show an orientation of the crystalline phase such as to produce X-ray scattering angles higher than 20.degree., at a temperature between a temperature equal to or higher than the melting temperature, measured in non restrain conditions, of the non oriented film and a temperature lower than the melting temperature, measured in restrained conditions, of the oriented films.

  • Patent number: 4777216
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the controlled polymerization of alpha-olefins selected from the group consisting of propylene and butylene in order to form a polymer containing by weight about 10% to 30% isotactic polyolefin, 25% to 70% atactic polyolefin and 0% to 65% by weight of an amorphous ethylene/olefin copolymer which process comprises combinations of the steps of:(a) homopolymerizing the alpha-olefin at a temperature of from about 0.degree. C. to about 90.degree. C. (preferably from about 20.degree. C. to about 60.degree. C.) in the presence of a high yield catalyst comprising a titanium compound supported on activated MgCl.sub.
