  • Patent number: 9306711
Abstract: A method of assembling a frame in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA)-based communication system, wherein data packets to be transmitted from a broadcast station to a receiver are given a rectangular shape in terms of the two dimensions—time and frequency—of the OFDMA frame, and wherein the data packets are successively fitted into the OFDMA frame by way of a frame assembly scheduler, is characterized in that the filling process of the OFDMA frame is based on an ordered list of data structures that represent the current empty space within the OFDMA frame. Furthermore, a corresponding communication system is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8417021
Abstract: We describe methods of characterizing a set of images to determine their respective illumination, for example for recovering the 3D shape of an illuminated object. The method comprises: inputting a first set of images of the object captured from different positions; determining frontier point data from the images, this defining a plurality of frontier points on the object and for each said frontier point a direction of a normal to the surface of the object at the frontier point, and determining data defining the image capture positions; inputting a second set of images of said object, having substantially the same viewpoint and different illumination conditions; and characterizing the second set of images said frontier point data to determine data comprising object reflectance parameter data (?) and, for each image of said second set, illumination data (L) comprising data defining an illumination direction and illumination intensity for the image.

  • Patent number: 7889898
Abstract: A method for navigating digital medical images includes providing a digitized patient medical image of a structure of interest in a patient, using a pre-trained classifier to segment the structure of interest from the image, creating links from the structure of interest to a corresponding structure in an anatomical atlas, receiving a query to view the structure of interest, parsing the query to identify one or more keywords from noun phrases in the query, mapping a keyword to a corresponding structure in the anatomical atlas, wherein the anatomical atlas structure is associated with a link to the corresponding structure in the patient image, and following the link to display said patient structure of interest.

  • Patent number: 7783095
Abstract: A method for segmenting and measuring anatomical structures in fetal ultrasound images includes the steps of providing a digitized ultrasound image of a fetus comprising a plurality of intensities corresponding to a domain of points on a 3-dimensional grid, providing a plurality of classifiers trained to detect anatomical structures in said image of said fetus, and segmenting and measuring an anatomical structure using said image classifiers by applying said elliptical contour classifiers to said fetal ultrasound image, wherein a plurality of 2-dimensional contours characterizing said anatomical structure are detected. The anatomical structure measurement can be combined with measurement of another anatomical structure to estimate gestational age of the fetus.

  • Publication number: 20070118492
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for supervised learning for classification that unifies generative and discriminative methods in a variational framework includes providing training data for determining a classifier, defining a cost functional based on a kernel density, finding a function of the cost functional by searching for a zero crossing of joint probabilities for a label for a given data point, optimizing the cost functional using a gradient descent, and outputting the classifier comprising an optimized cost functional for classifying data.
