  • Patent number: 8781514
Abstract: A system and method for establishing a communication session between at least two parties that are located in a common context (e.g., location) without sufficient knowledge to establish a communication session in a conventional manner. In one embodiment, a request to establish a communication session between two devices is received at a remote server. The request includes user information and location information associated with the first device and the request includes data corresponding to a physical feature of the user of the second device. The request is processed to obtain network information related to the second device, by searching a plurality of user profilers stored on the server based on the received location information and the data corresponding to the physical feature of the associated user of the second portable communication. If a suitable user profile is found, a communication session is established between the devices.

  • Publication number: 20130329081
Abstract: A portable electronic equipment comprises a first sensor to record media and at least one second sensor to capture data representing a physical condition of a user of the portable electronic equipment, the at least one second sensor being configured to capture the data in response to the first sensor recording the media. A processing device is interfaced with the at least one second sensor. The processing device is configured to retrieve the data captured by the at least one second sensor, to generate metadata for the recorded media based on the data, the metadata being indicative of the physical condition, and to cause the metadata to be stored in association with the recorded media.

  • Publication number: 20120317594
Abstract: A method and system for enhancing audio for a viewer watching digital video with sound, such as a movie or video game. The method and system determine where in the scene (40) the viewer's attention is focused, correlate the viewer's focal region with one of a plurality of regions (42a-d) of the video scene (40), preferably associated with a depth map, and enhance the sound corresponding to the focal region of the scene (40) as compared to the sound corresponding to the non-focal regions of the scene (40).

  • Patent number: 8099455
Abstract: Methods of operating a portable electronic device including a display screen, a user interface, a controller, a memory and a transceiver are provided. The methods include executing a resource on the controller, and receiving a snapshot command through the user interface. In response to the snapshot command, a network address of a remote server from which the resource was downloaded is obtained, an audiovisual signal representative of the resource is generated, and the audiovisual signal and the network address are stored in a file. The file can be forwarded using the transceiver to a remote terminal, which can access the resource from the network address.

  • Publication number: 20100136950
Abstract: A communication terminal includes a transceiver and a controller. The transceiver receives electronic messages from another communication terminal. The controller responds to receipt of each of the messages by examining content of the message according to at least one defined rule and to control sound characteristics of an alert tune that is played through a speaker responsive to the examined message content. The controller may attempt to match text from the message to a stored list of words and/or phrases, and to control the sound characteristics of the alert tune in response to an outcome of the matching.
