  • Patent number: 6079185
Abstract: An induction sealing device is utilized to seal a closure to a container on a packaging machine. The induction sealing device has a recess area for receiving a spout of a closure during the application process. A current is induced in a metal medium that generates heat to melt and chemically bond a closure to a container. The metal medium may be found in either the closure or the container.

  • Patent number: 6032583
Abstract: The present invention relates to an ammunition unit in the form of a shell or the like, with at least two warheads connected via a supporting structure. In order to prevent the impact from the first activated warhead reaching the warheads situated to the rear, and to prevent an interference effect on these warheads, according to the invention a structure-dividing charge is arranged in the supporting structure in order to divide the structure into two separate parts.

  • Patent number: 5831201
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for loading artillery guns intended for non-cartridge ammunition is provided. The loading is done by a pair of flick rammers including a first flick rammer for shells and a second flick rammer for propellant charges. Each of the flick rammers is positioned at an end position where the flick rammers are loaded with the shell and propellant charge, respectively, and in which the gun can recoil between the flick rammers. After the first flick rammer is loaded, it is moved towards the second flick rammer into a position in which the shell in the first flick rammer is in line with a gun barrel. The first flick rammer is then activated to move the shell into the gun barrel. The flick rammers are then jointly displaced in an opposite direction until the first flick rammer is in its end position and the propellant charges in the second flick rammer are in line with the gun barrel.

  • Patent number: 5811721
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically transferring a vertically standing ammunition component from a delivery opening in a carriage mounted magazine to a flick rammer incorporated in a gun elevation system is provided. In the method, a loading pendulum is positioned immediately outside the delivery opening of the magazine and parallel to the ammunition component. The ammunition component is then ejected from the magazine onto the loading pendulum without changing the vertical orientation of the ammunition component. The ammunition component is then locked in the loading pendulum and the loading pendulum is raised about a first axle to a substantially horizontal position. An outer cradle, in which the loading pendulum is suspended, is then lowered about a second axle coinciding with the trunnion center of the gun to an angle which coincides with the elevation of the gun and to a position above the flick rammer such that the ammunition component is immediate above the flick rammer.

  • Patent number: 5667745
Abstract: A method for the integral molding of a thermoplastics top on the edge of a cardboard tube, the plasticized synthetic plastics material being injected into the mold cavity formed by inner and outer mold parts, the mold parts being pressed against each other with force. To produce relatively thin plastics parts with a high degree of dimensional accuracy in the very shortest time and by using simpler tools, the mold cavity in a first stage is maintained at a large volume during which the plasticized synthetic plastics material at least partially fills the mold cavity under a relatively low pressure, the mold cavity being in a second stage conveyed to a smaller volume than that of the first stage, the clamping force for pressing together the inner and outer mold parts being increased in the second stage in relation to that in the first stage.

  • Patent number: 5385294
Abstract: The invention describes a liquids package comprising a tube with side walls at the ends of which there are fitted a flat bottom (3) and a top which incorporates a pourer orifice, the tube consisting of paper and the bottom (3) being so welded to the tube along part of an edge by means of a plastics rim (21) that the flat main area (14) of the bottom (3) is disposed at a distance from the outer cut edge of the tube. So that the package can also be constructed for aseptic purposes and in order to render production simple and economical, it is envisaged that the bottom (3) comprise, separate from the tube, a main area (14) of paper coated with synthetic plastics material, being provided with a metal interlining, like the tube.

  • Patent number: 4606786
Abstract: An arrangements for ultrasonic sealing comprises a sealing jaw which is combined with an ultrasonics source and a counterjaw. During the sealing the parts which are to be sealed to each other are pressed together between working surfaces of the jaws with simultaneous activation of the ultrasonics source as a result of which the parts are welded together. In the sealing of thin material layers it is very difficult to obtain a uniform compression over the whole surface which means that the risk of burning asunder or unsatisfactory sealing increases. In the invention this is prevented with the help of supporting elements which engage with two stop faces located in the nodal plane of the sealing jaw and on the one hand determine the minimum distance between the working surface, and on the other hand orientate the flexibly suspended jaw so that the working surfaces are parallel.

  • Patent number: 4475655
Abstract: Small packing containers such as individual packages for yogurt, ice-cream or the like, are frequently in the form of beakers provided with a lid consisting of a tear-off foil. To reduce the risk of leakage and provide a packing container of greater mechanical strength a beaker type packing container has been provided with an integrated, openable top side otherwise made of the same material as the beaker. The top remains connected to the packing container after it is opened.
