  • Publication number: 20030015153
Abstract: The invention relates to a crankcase scavenged internal combustion engine (1) of two-stroke type, comprising a cylinder (2) with an inlet tube (10) for air/fuel mixture and a number of transfer ducts (20), a carburetor (12) connected to the inlet tube (10), and an air inlet (24) provided with a restriction valve (25) whereby a piston ported air passage (23, 22, 26, 21) is arranged between the air inlet (24) and the upper part of the transfer ducts (20). The engine's air inlet (24) extends at least partly below and outside the carburetor (12), resulting in a more compact engine design and improved use of the space around the cylinder. Moreover, the cooling air gets better access to the cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20030011081
Abstract: Flange assembly for supporting a structure that provides scavenging air supply to an internal combustion engine at the carburetor to the engine. The assembly includes a thin-body flange that is configured to be abuttingly installed upon an end surface of the carburetor. The carburetor has its combustion air intake or port exposed at an outer surface for intaking air for the combustion process. The thin construction of the flange enables advantageous positioning of the adaptive flange. The relative dimensioning of the thin-body flange also contributes to its low-impact as a modification to air inlet arrangement. A combustion air aperture is provided that extends through the thin-body flange. The combustion air aperture is located in the flange for alignment with the combustion air intake. By this alignment, fluid communication is established across the flange and into the carburetor when the flange is abuttingly installed upon the carburetor.

  • Patent number: 6276326
Abstract: A connecting device (1) for a fuel supply unit (2), such as a carburetor, to a cylinder (3) of an internal combustion engine, said connecting device is mainly composed of a flexible inlet bellow (4) with an inlet duct (5). The bellow (4) has at its one end a first flange part (6), which surrounds the inlet duct and furthest out has a projecting outer edge (7) intended to be pushed upon a projecting inlet stud (8) of the cylinder, and the inlet bellow is at its other end mounted to the fuel supply unit (2). The inlet stud (8) has besides an inlet opening (13) at least one cavity (14) by the side of the inlet opening and the inlet bellow is arranged with at least one from the first flange part (6) projecting nose part (15) intended to protrude into the cavity (14) when the inlet bellow in an axial direction is being pushed upon the inlet stud (8).

  • Patent number: 6003829
Abstract: A device for suspension of a member (10), such as a carburetor, which forms part of a fuel system of an internal combustion engine which is provided in a housing (11). The device includes at least one resilient element (13) attached to the housing and connected to the member (10) in order to allow a certain range of movement thereof relative to the housing. The resilient element (13) is adapted to cooperate with a supporting structure (13d, 14) serving to restrict the range of movement of the member (10).

  • Patent number: 5899182
Abstract: A device for releasably attaching a cover (11) to an engine housing (10) of a power-driven tool, such as a motor saw. The device includes at least one spring clip (12) which is adapted to be releasably connected to one of the engine housing and the cover. A guide pin (15) is attached to the engine housing or the cover adjacent to the spring clip and adapted to engage in a complementary recess (16) in the cover or the engine housing. A supporting plate (17); made of a hard material, is attached to the engine housing or the cover around the guide pin.

  • Patent number: 5809959
Abstract: In an internal combustion engine, especially for a motor saw, a securing device is used for connecting one end of a flexible intake tube (12) to an inlet tube socket (11) of a cylinder (10). The other end of the intake tube is adapted to be connected to a fuel supply system, such as a carburetor (17). A partition wall (13) is provided between the cylinder and the carburetor in order to protect the carburetor from heat radiation from the cylinder. According to the invention, the partition wall (13) is made integral with a clamp (14) adapted to surround and secure one end of the intake tube (12) to the inlet tube socket (11).
