    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for producing a photovoltaic solar cell. The apparatus includes a planar silicon base. At least one thin film layer of vanadium (V) doped zinc oxide (ZnO), at least one thin film layer of perovskite precursor solution, or at least one thin film layer of perovskite quantum dots is applied on said silicon base to enhance efficiency and prolong life of the solar cell. A layer of polydimethylsiloxane may be applied to prolong life of the perovskite quantum dots.
