  • Publication number: 20070011780
Abstract: The present invention relates to cloning of novel gene sequences expressed and repressed during winter dormancy in the apical buds of Camellia sinesis L. (O.) Kuntze (hereinafter, referred to tea) bush, particularly, relates to identification, cloning and analysis of novel 3 prime (hereinafter called as 3?) ends of the genes (gene in the present invention refers to the deoxyribonucleic acid (hereinafter known as, DNA) sequences that are expressed and repressed in winter-dormant apical buds of tea. 3? end refers to that end of DNA which has free hydroxyl group at 3rd position of the carbohydrate moiety of the DNA molecule.

  • Publication number: 20060142555
Abstract: A process for the production of steviosides from Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni includes extraction of comminuted plant material by directly injecting steam into the extractor followed by filtration to get aqueous extract and alkali treatment to remove unwanted compounds in the form of precipitate. The treated aqueous extracted was filtered and the filtrate was first treated with gel or macroporous strong acid cation exchange resin and then with gel or macroporous weak base anion exchange resin. The aqueous eluant containing steviosides was concentrated to obtain purified steviosides.

  • Publication number: 20050082157
Abstract: This invention relates to a simple, convenient, portable mini-distillation apparatus for the production of essential oils and hydrosols, said apparatus is useful to distill essential oils and hydrosols such as rose water, ajowain water from fresh and dried plant material like leaves, flowers, roots and rhizomes by water distillation, water and steam distillations and as an optional, steam distillation can also be performed at atmospheric pressure as well as slightly higher and lower than atmospheric pressure, said apparatus can be heated on brick-clay furnace with small agro-waste, LPG cooking gas, electrically heated stove or kerosene/diesel burner etc. and requires minimum attention during handling; since the apparatus is made of stainless steel and glass, the essential oil distilled is of better quality.
