  • Publication number: 20240342431
Abstract: The present invention relates to an auditory device that combines bone-conducting earbuds with integrated electroencephalography (EEG) sensors. The device utilizes bone conduction technology to transmit sound through the skull to the inner ear, allowing for clear audio perception without obstructing the ear canal. Incorporated EEG sensors are configured with spring-loaded contacts that maintain consistent skin contact to monitor brain wave activity effectively. This dual-functionality enables users to listen to audio and simultaneously track cognitive states, making the device particularly useful for applications in cognitive load monitoring and adaptive audio feedback based on the user's mental state. This innovation extends the functionality of conventional earbuds with bone-conduction mechanisms by integrating EEG technology to enhance biosensing, health monitoring, and tailored cognitive-processing feedback.

  • Publication number: 20240206794
Abstract: The present invention displays an in-the-ear Electroencephalography (EEG) electrode system designed to monitor brain activity in clinical environments, using eartips composed of n-doped silicon or alternative conductive rubber-based materials positioned in the ear canal to accurately detect neurological signals. This electrode system offers wireless and wired configurations, ensuring adaptability to various platforms. This invention addresses the limitations of traditional EEG methodologies by providing a solution for continuous and reliable brain activity monitoring, particularly during intricate surgical procedures. The electrode system displays patient vitals and EEG data in real time, providing medical professionals in diverse clinical settings with comprehensive insights into brain states across a spectrum of frequencies. This system captures Event-Related Potentials (ERPs) and activities in the temporal lobes.

  • Publication number: 20230417053
Abstract: This invention presents a wireless earbud case tailored for biometrics and wearable technology. Unlike basic charging cases like those of consumer earbuds in the market currently, this earbud case enriches mobile device interaction. The case processes biometric electroencephalography (EEG) data to aid in monitoring mood, sleep, and neurological health. It wirelessly links via Bluetooth or WiFi to transmit data to a mobile software. It charges earbuds and can indicate battery levels of the earbuds or the case itself. It receives, processes, and transmits EEG data from external sources like earbud-connected electrodes. Then, the processed data displays on devices like phones and computers. Compatible with EEG or magnetoencephalography earbuds, it offers electronic storage for the purpose of data security. This invention optimizes data flow to external devices, such as EEG earbuds for biometric and wearable tech applications.

  • Publication number: 20230389847
Abstract: The present disclosure involves the integration of conductive filaments or n-doped silicon with a rubber ear-tip. This combination allows for the detection of brain oscillation waves in EEG-enabled earbud systems. Previous implementations of ear tip electrodes involve multiple tiny electrodes embedded into the ear tip. However, unlike conventional designs, the presented solution utilizes the entire ear tip for conductivity, making a significant advancement in EEG technology in regards to data capturing. Other embodiments of the invention include partitioning the ear tip itself to make an electrode array for multiple reference points during detection of brain waves. These conductive ear tips enable accurate neural biometric detection. Incorporating magnets, the ear tips seamlessly attach to earbuds, enhancing convenience.
