  • Patent number: 10439706
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile satellite communication system that supports standard 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G mobile user equipment directly. The system comprising standard mobile user equipment, a low earth orbit satellite constellation, a satellite gateway connected to a terrestrial mobile network operator's operational support systems, a satellite beam steering controller configured to share mobile spectrum connected to an antenna array and digital beamformer that duplicates the mobile network's cell identification, frequencies, synchronization signals and control channels to satellite beams to form “Virtual Cells” further subdivided into “Doppler Cells” that are pre-compensated for the high range Doppler shift thereby reducing the residual Doppler shift received by the standard mobile user equipment to a range it can correct normally.

  • Publication number: 20170272149
Abstract: A method and apparatus for zero interference multi-gigabit inter-satellite communication between system satellites (300) and client satellites (301) using millimeter wave beams at transmit and receive frequencies that are aligned to the peak atmospheric molecular absorption frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum (FIG. 1). The narrow low power beams are accurately steered within a restricted set of directions (FIG. 5) that prevent interference to other space borne radio receivers whether in geostationary or low earth orbits and cannot interfere with terrestrial receivers due to atmospheric absorption. The apparatus comprises an integrated electronically steered 2-D phased array (401), transceiver and baseband integrated circuits (402, 403) with a beam controller (404) coupled to the spacecraft attitude determination and control subsystem (407), central processing unit (406) and solid state storage device (405).

  • Patent number: 6188146
Abstract: A power supply for providing electrical power to one or more communications components includes energy converting cells configured for mounting on or adjacent a light source such as a street light. Energy dissipated by the light source is converted into electrical energy and used to power one or ore communications components. The power supply combined with a battery, control circuitry and a communications component is provided as a unit to be mounted onto a street light housing. Energy converting cells in the form of thermoelectric converters use the heat from the light housing to power the communications component.
