Abstract: Provided is a modular pumped loop cooling apparatus including a cooling module and a pumping module, wherein the pumping module has an inlet coupling for mating with a corresponding outlet coupling of the cooling module when the cooling module is placed atop the pumping module. The modular pumped loop cooling apparatus is provided as a standalone unit that can be coupled to any one of a plurality of heat sinks having different heat loads. The cooling apparatus is therefore scalable to accommodate a wide range of cooling applications so that the apparatus does not have to be redesigned to accommodate a particular system.

  • Publication number: 20130315758
Abstract: A motor may comprise a stator and a rotor rotatable relative to the stator. A portion of the rotor may house a hydraulic pumping element of a hydraulic pump for effectuating movement of fluid from an inlet to an outlet thereby transforming the rotational power of the shaft into hydraulic power. Specifically, an electro-hydraulic pump may include a piston pump barrel assembly including a plurality of pistons arranged around a central axis for pumping hydraulic fluid and a cam for displacing the plurality of pistons when relative movement between the cam and the plurality of pistons occurs. A plurality of magnets may be fixedly attached to the outside of the piston pump barrel assembly, and electrical windings may radially surround the magnets and be configured to create a magnetic field when energized so as to cause the plurality of magnets and a portion of the piston pump barrel assembly to rotate relative to the windings, thereby actuating the plurality of pistons to pump hydraulic fluid.

The hydraulic valve includes a valve body, a valve bore defined by the valve body, a plurality of valve ports extending through the valve body and into the valve bore, and an actuator. Actuation of the actuator allows for movement of the spool to a first position within the valve bore, thereby providing for one of opening or closing the hydraulic valve. Exposure of the spool to a pressure at an end of the spool proximate the actuator allows for movement of the spool to a second position within the valve bore, thereby providing for the other of opening or closing the hydraulic valve.

  • Publication number: 20130219875
Abstract: A power transfer system for a vehicle that comprises a an internal combustion engine, one or more drive wheels, and power transfer apparatus transfers power from the prime mover to the wheels for propelling the vehicle. The system further comprises an auxiliary hydraulic pump that has a drive shaft that coupled to a power take-off unit driven by engine, and to an auxiliary hydraulic motor powered by hydraulic fluid supplied from a hydraulic energy storage device such as an accumulator. As a result, the auxiliary hydraulic pump can be powered by hydraulic fluid from the accumulator when the prime mover is not operating, or by the prime mover when operating. A tandem arrangement of one way clutches can be employed to avoid the need to disconnect the auxiliary hydraulic pump from the prime mover during operation of the auxiliary hydraulic motor, and vice versa.

  • Publication number: 20130145890
Abstract: A return to neutral mechanism is provided for hydraulic apparatuses such as motors/pumps that utilize a swashplate and a trunnion arm to control flow. The return to neutral mechanism includes two rotating brackets which have ends aligned to a single plane. Two springs are utilized and attached to the ends of the two rotating brackets giving the force mechanism the ability apply the force in a direct path, reducing friction, increasing life, and improving accuracy. This design is an “x” type mechanism, the force arms are in-line and do not cross, the force is applied equally on both sides of the fulcrum and therefore balanced.

  • Publication number: 20130142626
Abstract: A hydrodynamic energy recovery system for effecting mixing of gases within a headspace of a liquid-containment vessel containing a liquid enables mixing of the gases by converting energy of moving or sloshing liquid in a liquid-filled lower portion of the vessel into energy for moving the gases. The system includes (1) a hydro-driven actuator that is movably driven in response to the movement of the liquid in the vessel, (2) a mixing device driven by the actuator such that motion of the mixing device effects mixing of the gases contained in the headspace above the liquid, and (3) a motion converter for converting motion of the actuator into motion for driving the mixing device. The mixing device can be driven without the need to run electrical power within the vessel and without the transfer of motion through an external wall of the vessel.

  • Publication number: 20130084597
Abstract: Provided is a microbial test unit for detecting microbes in a compressed gas. The microbial test unit includes a decompression region and a sampling region in fluid communication with the decompression region and separated from the decompression region by a plate. The decompression region and the sampling region define a flow path. An inlet communicates with the decompression region such that compressed gas entering the decompressing region is incident on the plate for effectuating decompression of the gas prior to the gas passing into the sampling region. The microbial test unit may be used in conjunction with a growth medium substrate to form a microbial test system. The microbial test unit provides the ability to test compressed gas directly input to the unit due to positive pressure from the compressed gas pushing the microbes onto the microbial growth substrate.

  • Publication number: 20130074955
Abstract: A pressure controlling valve includes a slidable spool arranged to be spring loaded towards a neutral position. A first port and a second port are connected to allow a fluid flow through the valve. A first and a second pilot port are connected to a cavity adjacent a respective first and second end surface of the spool. The pilot ports are connected to a fluid conduit on either side of a fluid device causing a pressure drop in the fluid conduit and the fluid device is connected to one of the first or second ports. The spool is displaced against the spring load in response to a pressure difference between the first and the second pilot port, whereby a control surface of the spool is arranged to restrict the fluid flow through the valve when the control surface approaches a central cavity.
