  • Patent number: 6434250
Abstract: Stereo apparatus having angled speakers so as to direct sound at a desired angle relative to the ears of the listener. The disclosed arrangements enhance the stereo sound effect and provide accurate stereo imaging, as well as sound stage expansion, through the proper placement and orientation of speaker units relative to the ears of a listener. The speaker units may be positioned at optimum angles of incidence and distances relative to the ears of a listener. Adjustable positioning means are provided to enable control over the horizontal spatial dimension of the stereo sound. The speaker units may be fixed at a preset orientation, or pivotally mounted for positional adjustment by the listener. Speaker units and releasable mounts may be provided for attachment to eyeglass-style temple pieces for added convenience and comfort. A number of mounting arrangements for simplifying selection of the desired earphone angle are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4441540
Abstract: An improvement in a Venetian blind comprises a bottom rail in openable box form containing means for permitting easy adjustment of the length of the lift cords and slat ladders of the blind, and therefore the overall length of the blind, to adapt it to different window lengths. Preferably, the box comprises a horizontal lower bottom portion with closed bottom and upraised sloped sides and a horizontal upper portion with closed top and depending sloped sides, the latter usually fitting closely between the upraised sides. The two portions are releasably held together, as by removable pins extending therethrough. The lower edges of the depending sides can define inverted V-shaped keeper slots or the like to releasably retain the vertical string portions of the ladders. The upper portion may have apertures in the top down through which the lift cords pass.

  • Patent number: 4377194
Abstract: A venetian blind slat-tilting mechanism including a pair of top-mounted bars to which tilt strings are attached at opposed positions and which are attached together through a nut threaded to a rod. The rod is connected to a pulley which is turned by a tilt-adjusting cord. The motion of the pulley turns the rod and moves the nut laterally, thus moving both bars and tilting the blind's slats. Additionally a slat-lifting mechanism is provided in the form of lift strings running over support pulleys to raise and lower the blind.

  • Patent number: 4282095
Abstract: An aquarium filtering system utilizing an immersible housing having perforations on two opposed surfaces, an external supply and take-up means for filter material. The immersible housing and the portion of the filtering system positioning the supply and take-up of filter material act jointly to form a structure for positioning the filtration system in an aquarium, and storing the filter material outside of the aquarium unless in use. A fluid conduit is provided in the immersed portion of the housing for introduction and/or removal of the aquarium medium. Guides are provided over the edges of the system in order to control motion of the filter medium, and overflow control is provided above the aquarium water level in the immersed portion of the housing.
