  • Patent number: 10660017
Abstract: A first communications device (1002) and a method therein for Device-to-Device (D2D) communication with a second communications device (1004) using a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) or a second RAT. The first and second communications devices are operating in a communications network (1000). The first communications device transmits 5 the second communications device, by means of the first RAT, information relating to a proximity service provided by the second RAT. Thereby the information enables the second communications device to determine whether to use the first RAT or the proximity service provided by the second for D2D communication with the first communications device.

  • Patent number: 10492143
Abstract: A mobile device that comprises a main receiver and a wake-up receiver is operated by periodically attempting to receive a first signal that is configured for receipt by the wake-up receiver. For each attempt, a detection result is generated that indicates whether the first signal was received with a signal quality that satisfies a predetermined minimum quality criterion. One or more of the detection results are used as a basis for deciding whether or not the wake-up receiver is within range of an access point. An operation of the mobile device is adjusted in response to a decision that the wake-up receiver is not within range of the access point.

  • Publication number: 20190357254
Abstract: A method and an access node of a wireless network, for controlling uplink transmissions from wireless devices. It is detected that both a Narrow Band wireless device capable of receiving signals on a first narrow bandwidth channel and one or more legacy wireless devices capable of receiving signals on a second broad bandwidth channel are present. The second broad channel covers the first narrow channel. When receiving an uplink transmission from the Narrow Band device that indicates pending uplink data, the access node performs a downlink transmission that both Narrow Band wireless devices and legacy wireless devices can receive and decode. The downlink transmission indicates that the Narrow Band wireless device is allowed to transmit its pending uplink data on allocated resources within the first bandwidth channel, and that the second bandwidth channel is occupied.

  • Publication number: 20190159281
Abstract: A control entity in a wireless communications system obtains discontinuous reception information for a plurality of wireless terminals and configures one or more of said wireless terminals, based on the obtained discontinuous reception information, to harmonise the awake periods of the plurality of wireless terminals. The control entity determines a common reception period for the plurality of wireless terminals such that a broadcast or multicast transmission during the common reception period is received simultaneously by the wireless terminals.

  • Patent number: 10129786
Abstract: An access point of a radio network, a wireless device and methods therein, for controlling a radio communication of data from the access point to the wireless device. When detecting that the number of wireless devices in a user group for which downlink data is pending exceeds the number of wireless devices that can receive downlink data during an upcoming time period reserved for the user group, the access point selects a subset of the wireless devices to which it is possible to send downlink data during the upcoming time period, and transmits a beacon indicating that the subset of the wireless devices have pending data to receive. Thereby, any unsuccessful requests transmitted from devices for pending data may be avoided and the risk for collision of requests may also be reduced.
