Publication number: 20190149284Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for optimizing real time services (e.g., such as a voice over Long Term Evolution (LTE) (VoLTE)) for devices with limited communications resources, such as machine type communication (MTC) devices and enhanced MTC (eMTC) devices. In one aspect, a UE determines a first configuration of subframes within at least one radio frame available for the UE and other UEs to use for bundled communications with a BS. The UE receives an indication of one or more subframes within the at least one radio frame that are unavailable for bundled uplink transmissions, and determines a second configuration of subframes to use for bundled communications based on the indication. The UE overrides the first configuration of subframes with the second configuration of subframes, and communicates with the BS using the second configuration of subframes. Numerous other aspects are provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2019Publication date: May 16, 2019Inventors: Alberto RICO ALVARINO, Kirankumar Bhoja ANCHAN, Shashidhar VUMMINTALA, Srinivasan BALASUBRAMANIAN, Hao XU, Parvathanathan SUBRAHMANYA, Seyed Ali Akbar FAKOORIAN, Peter GAAL, Gowrisankar SOMICHETTY

Publication number: 20180091108Abstract: A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are disclosed for energy efficient multichannel communications. In one aspect, the apparatus may communicate using a plurality of channels working in parallel where the plurality of channels may share an LNA. Additionally, the apparatus may determine a set of parameters for the plurality of channels to maximize energy efficiency. The apparatus may therefore configure the plurality of channels based on the set of parameters. As such, the apparatus supports multichannel communications with a common LNA structure while providing energy optimization for the multichannel communications. Accordingly, multichannel communications can be provided using a shared LNA structure that reduces implementation cost and more efficiently utilizes available power resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2017Publication date: March 29, 2018Inventors: Pengkai ZHAO, Supratik BHATTACHARJEE, Jong Hyeon PARK, Parvathanathan SUBRAHMANYA, Brian Clarke BANISTER, Madihally NARASIMHA

Patent number: 9924465Abstract: Apparatus and methods for low power sensing of wireless access technologies are disclosed. In particular, a mobile wireless device, such as an access terminal, may utilize a lower power circuitry portion that operates at a lower power than active circuitry, such as a primary transceiver. The lower power circuitry portion includes a configurable searcher that is capable of sensing if signals of one or more various wireless access technologies are present. When the wireless device utilizes sleep or idle modes for power savings, use of the lower power sensing circuitry to sense the presence of wireless access technologies, rather than using an awoken higher power primary transceiver for sensing, affords increased power savings. An added ability of the lower power circuitry to be put into sleep or idles modes achieves even greater power savings.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2015Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Dilip Krishnaswamy, Parag M. Publication number: 20170094545Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) utilizing enhanced carrier aggregation (eCA) may identify a limit to the number of channel state feedback (CSF) processes it is capable of supporting. The UE may transmit an indication of this limit to a base station, which may configure the UE for channel state reporting, and send channel state reporting triggers according to the indicated limit. The UE's determination of the limit to the number of CSF processes may be based on various transmit or receive antenna configurations. A single trigger may correspond to reports covering multiple subframes and/or component carriers. The base station may also arrange the channel state reporting configuration to reduce the peak number of channel state reports that the UE processes during each subframe. The UE may also determine that a number of channel state processes needed to support channel state reporting in a subframe exceeds its capacity.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2016Publication date: March 30, 2017Inventors: Parvathanathan Subrahmanya, Qiang Shen, Aamod Dinkar Khandekar, Mariam Motamed, Wanshi Chen, Hanfang Pan, Deepak Mathew

Patent number: 9236884Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for communication within a wireless terminal. The method can be implemented using dedicated logic and managed and controlled by state machines and/or sequencers. Data received or provided in a memory of a first integrated circuit of a terminal is encoded and transmitted in a data packet to a second integrated circuit. A header identifying the data type and providing a destination is included in the data packet. The destination may be identified as a memory address memory of the second integrated circuit that is mapped to a corresponding memory address of the first integrated circuit at which the data is received. In an aspect, the apparatus receives a header, detects an error in the received header, determines a failure to identify a packet boundary when the error is detected, and performs a search operation to identify the packet boundary.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2013Date of Patent: January 12, 2016Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Hans Georg Gruber, Subra Dravida, Parvathanathan Subrahmanya, Vidyut Mukund Naware, Helena Deirdre O'Shea, Garret Webster Shih, Jason Thurston

Patent number: 9112634Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which PAPR for an input of an AGC in a wireless receiver is generated. The AGC may provide a gain-controlled signal to a correlator when the PAPR of the input does not exceed the threshold ratio and may clamp the gain of the gain-controlled signal when PAPR of the input is large. A large PAPR may cause termination of search for a signal of interest in a current channel. The search may be resumed in a non-adjacent channel.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2012Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Prashant Udupa Sripathi, Parvathanathan Subrahmanya

Patent number: 8718210Abstract: Estimating a channel impulse response (CIR) for a wireless transmission, for example a multimedia broadcast multicast services single frequency network (MBSFN) transmission, may be performed by a receiver of an wireless subframe, without requiring operational memory in excess of what is needed for CIR estimation of unicast signaling, while providing enhanced delay spread coverage. The wireless subframe may be a MBSFN subframe. The receiver may form an aggregate vector of pilot tones extracted from an OFDM reference symbol of an wireless subframe. The receiver may subsample the aggregate vector to obtain a plurality of sub-vectors each comprising a distinct subsampling phase. The receiver may process the plurality of sub-vectors using an inverse fast Fourier transform to obtain time domain representations of each of the sub-vectors. The receiver may combine the time domain representations in various ways to obtain a CIR estimate for the wireless subframe.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2011Date of Patent: May 6, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Mariam Motamed, Alexei Yurievitch Gorokhov, Mike L.
