  • Publication number: 20230169721
Abstract: Approaches presented herein reduce the presence of temporary artifacts such, as flickering, when using spatial hashing with simulation. Flickering can be avoided, at least in part, by ensuring that the same simulation points are utilized in separate executions of an algorithm, even where the execution order can vary. This can involve selecting a single representative point for each hash cell of a spatial hash map, where simulation for that hash cell will be performed for that representative point location, regardless of execution order. Both a location index and a selector value are stored for this hash map entry in a single value, where lower bits store the location index and higher bits represent the selector value. Storing the selector value in the higher-weight bits ensures an atomic maximum operation will primarily consider the selector value, and resort to the location index only in the event of equal selector values.

  • Patent number: 9860303
Abstract: A cloud computing environment in which a plurality of data centers are populated through the launching of resources in a controlled manner. Parameters such as current usage, future projected usage and a future maximum capacity can be used decide in which data center to launch a resource. A data center can be chosen so as to minimize a possibility that the data center becomes constrained at a future point in time. Selection is such that an equal percentage of future capacity is maintained across data centers.

  • Patent number: 8149845
Abstract: Networks for exchanging packet signals between first network-units (1) like access providers and/or access multiplexers coupled to terminals and second network-units (2) like service providers and/or gateways coupled to further networks can be improved by providing a network with a pooled connection (3) having a capacity smaller than a sum of all terminal-capacities, which sum equals the capacity necessary in case all terminals communicate via the network at the same time. This pooled connection (3) is located between said first (1) and second (2) network-unit and is managed by a manager (23) in said second network-unit (2). By providing a first network-unit (1) with a router (12) managed by a manager (13), control traffic can be routed transparently to said second network-unit (2). By providing a manager (23) in the second network-unit (2) with a controller (28), the capacity of said pooled connection (3) can be controlled and guarded.

  • Patent number: 7508765
Abstract: The present invention relates to a network status reporting method, for reporting in a communications network a network status to a data source with an adaptive transmission rate. The data sink reports the network status to the data source in order to enable the data source to adapt the transmission rate based on the network status. The communications network further contains at least one intermediate network node, and a data sink. Only the data sink reports to the data source on a status of the communications network in its neighborhood, and no intermediate network node reports to the data source on said network status of the communications network.

  • Patent number: 7400631
Abstract: The present invention relates to a scheduling unit adapted to aggregate data units from a plurality of input ports to a common output port according to a service sequence. The service sequence identifies which particular input port must be served for a particular service slot. A scheduling unit according to the present invention features optimized jitter and queue occupancy figures. This is achieved by allotting a number of service slots to each input port in proportion to its service share, next by determining for each input port a corresponding number of candidate positions uniformly spaced over the service sequence, finally by resolving any contention between the so-determined candidate positions. A service slot is assigned first and foremost to the input port which has the highest number of candidate positions considered while determining the service sequence yet not assigned to any service slot, next which gets the highest service share.

  • Patent number: 7126240
Abstract: A method for enabling an apparatus (15) to operate only after detecting with receiver elements (11) located proximate to the apparatus, a signal transmitted by portable transmitted elements (1), which consists in no longer taking into account detection by the receiver means (11) of the signal transmitted by the transmitting elements (1), after activating presence sensing elements (22) provided proximate to the apparatus, or integrated in the apparatus. Once activated, the presence sensing elements (22) neutralize the transmitter/receiver device (1, 11) and the apparatus can operate normally without being perturbed by possible statics or accidental losses of signal. The inventive method and device are applicable to an antitheft safety device for a motor vehicle.
