Publication number: 20240352820Abstract: A system and method (1000; 1050) for a well structure adaption (402) to be used with a wellhead casing for a reusable system (942; 962A; 962B), such as a system for renewable energy generation is disclosed. A well structure adaption includes an annular feature (404; 506) and a housing (412; 504). The annular feature includes a narrowing (406) therein and is able to fit over the wellhead casing (110; 202). The housing is associated with a segmented clamp (508) and a drive screw (502). The housing is to fit over a portion of the annular feature. The drive screw is to enable the housing to be releasably clamped to the annular feature with the segmented clamp. Publication number: 20240240535Abstract: A lock sequencing system includes a first fluid line that couples a fluid source to a first portion of a piston cavity of a blowout preventer and to a hydraulic motor of a lock. A first discharge valve is positioned along the first fluid line to delay delivery of fluid to the hydraulic motor of the lock to cause sequential closure of a ram coupled to the piston and locking of a locking member of the lock. A second fluid line couples the fluid source to a second portion of the piston cavity of the blowout preventer and to the hydraulic motor of the lock. A second discharge valve is positioned along the second fluid line to delay delivery of fluid to the second portion of the piston cavity to cause sequential opening of the ram coupled to the piston and unlocking of the locking member of the lock.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2022Publication date: July 18, 2024Inventors: Pascal Berthaud, Jean-Luc Pujol, Benoit Jauzion

Patent number: 10612536Abstract: Various assemblies that can be used in a mud pump with a plunger-style piston to reduce seal failures, to offer control in variability of the circumference of the piston to thereby control fluid pressure, and to provide visibility into seal condition during operation. In one embodiment, a sleeve that can vary the overall effective circumference of the piston enables fluid pressure control. In some embodiments, seal failure within a pump can be monitored via a drain port that would receive drilling fluid leaking past a seal during operation of the pump. A discharge valve can be provided between an inlet and an outlet of the mud pump to reduce the load on pump components during start-up. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2016Date of Patent: April 7, 2020Assignee: CAMERON INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventors: Pascal Berthaud, Robert Berthaud

Patent number: 10280910Abstract: A load-balanced, high-capacity mud pump is provided. In some embodiments, load balancing is achieved by spacing hubs along the crankshaft of the mud pump with the bull gears disposed opposite one another, on outer ends of the crankshaft adjacent to the housing. In such an embodiment, the hubs are disposed along the crankshaft between the bull gears. A pinion shaft (or separate pair of shafts) can be provided, mechanically supported in the mud pump by roller bearings or lubricated pads. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2016Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: Cameron International CorporationInventors: Pascal Berthaud, Robert Berthaud

Patent number: 10246955Abstract: A self-aligning mud pump apparatus is provided. In one embodiment, the mud pump includes a rotatable crankshaft, a crosshead, a crosshead guide, and a hub disposed in a housing. The hub is disposed on the crankshaft and is operable to convert rotating motion of the crankshaft to reciprocating motion of the crosshead within the crosshead guide. The hub is coupled to the crosshead via a connecting rod, which is connected the crosshead such that the connecting rod has five degrees of freedom with respect to the crosshead guide. The mud pump may also or instead include a piston coupled to the crosshead with five degrees of freedom between the piston and the crosshead. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2016Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: Cameron International CorporationInventors: Pascal Berthaud, Robert Berthaud
