    Abstract: A method for charging a rechargeable battery of a device, such as an electronic cigarette, involves acquiring historical data relating to the rechargeable battery from a memory unit in the device, wherein the historical data relate to at least one previous charging operation. The method involves measuring one or more parameters related to the charging of the rechargeable battery during a charging period in which a charging voltage is applied and determining a state of health of the rechargeable battery based on the one or more measured parameters and the historical data. An action is then performed on the device based on the determined state of health.
