  • Patent number: 7147253
Abstract: A quick-connect coupling which includes a locking ring (20) disposed in an coupling body to co-operate with a catch surface on a tube fitted into the coupling. The ring is elastically deformable to go between an unlocking configuration and a locking configuration, in which at least one locking zone (30, 32) co-operates with the catch surface. To this end, the ring is provided with at least one unlocking bridge (22, 24) that protrudes through a slot in the body of the coupling. The ring is constituted by a strip that is plastically deformed to have at least the locking zone and the bridge. The ring forms a closed loop and has two ends (20A, 20B) which overlap, and which are suitable for sliding one over the other while the ring is being elastically deformed.

  • Patent number: 5634254
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a ring for swaging from a continuous metal strip includes stamping strip ends to about one-half the thickness of the metal strip. Studs are formed on the ends of the strip. The displaced metal is trimmed from the ends to maintain a uniform width. The strip of metal is cut between adjacent strip ends. The strip is then rolled until the ends of the metal strip are abutted, the compressed strip ends forming a housing for receiving a plate. Plates are fabricated to fit in the housing. Each plate includes corresponding holes for receiving the studs on the strip ends. The studs are riveted in the holes to secure the ring. The holes may be formed on the strip ends and the plate can be formed with studs to secure the ring.

  • Patent number: 5624216
Abstract: A screw comprising, in succession between a first end and a second end thereof: a first polygonal head; a breakable neck; a second polygonal head; and a threaded shank; the diameter of the breakable neck being smaller than the diameters of the heads and of the shank, the screw further comprising a cylindrical bearing surface portion situated between the breakable neck and the second head, and having a diameter not less than that of the breakable neck, but less than that of the second head. A tool for tightening such a screw comprises a tightening endpiece including resilient means that project radially into the inside of the tube while they are in the free state, and that are capable of retracting to allow the first head of the screw to be inserted as far as the engagement portion of the tube and to co-operate with the cylindrical bearing surface portion of the screw when the first head thereof is in said engagement portion.

  • Patent number: 5575055
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for shrinking a ring to be shrunk, placed around an object to be clamped on a cylindrical support and behind an axial obstacle connected to said support. The process comprises the following steps of: a) fitting a shrinking tool around the support, over the axial obstacle, until its jaws in expanded position are disposed in the radial plane of the ring to be shrunk, b) positioning in the jaws, by the rear of the axial obstacle, a spacer presenting a central opening adapted to the ring to be shrunk, and c) finally, tightening the shrinking tool to bring the jaws and the spacer that they contain in their retracted positions.

  • Patent number: 5553358
Abstract: A clamp fitting is formed by a metal band wound on itself. One end of the band presents an ear radially projecting on the outer periphery of the clamp. The other end of the band is shaped as a hook capable of hooking behind the ear to maintain the clamp in a tightened position. After hooking, on the face of the metal band located opposite the hook bearing zone, the ear is provided with a member integral therewith and of which a zone is capable of coming into stop contact with the inner face of the hook when the latter is being hooked on the ear. This additional contact with the inner face of the hook prevents any relative displacement of the hook with respect to the ear and consequently any increase in the tightening of the clamp.

  • Patent number: 5536047
Abstract: This invention relates to a connector of a quick connection allowing tight connection of a rigid tube provided, at some distance from its free end intended to be fitted in the inlet of the connector, with a bead projecting radially with respect to the outer surface of the tube and presenting a substantially radial side opposite said end. The connector presents a first inner housing comprising an O-ring capable of coming into contact with the outer surface of the tube between its free end and its bead and a second inner housing to receive a locking ring elastically deformable in the radial direction. The locking ring is formed by a thin metal band presenting a generally oblong profile, the central region of said ring being constituted by substantially cylindrical portions whose diameter in the free state is at the most equal to the diameter of the tube.

  • Patent number: 5530996
Abstract: A clamp fitting is formed by an internal segment of metal band wound upon itself, and an external segment of metal band formed about a portion of the internal segment. The internal segment extends for more than one complete circumference such that the outer end of the internal segment overlaps the internal end of the internal segment to form a continuous internal surface. The outer end of the internal segment presents an ear formed by two folds of band placed back to back and projecting radially on the outer periphery of the clamp. The external band segment extends only for a partial circumference. One end of the external segment is attached to the outer face of the internal segment. The other end of the external segment is shaped as a hook capable of hooking behind the ear to maintain the clamp in a tightened position.

  • Patent number: 5469604
Abstract: A ring for swaging constituted by a rolled-up length of metal strip whose two ends are bonded together without give rise to significant increased thickness in the bonding zone. The ends of the strip are disposed substantially in contact with each other via their terminal edges, and the thickness of each of said ends is close to half the thickness of the strip. The inside faces of the ends are offset outwardly relative to the inside surface of the ring so as to constitute a housing for a plate whose thickness is close to half the thickness of the strip. A set of complementary studs and holes is provided on the ends of the strip and on the plate, said studs being engaged in the holes and their free ends being riveted to the element opposite from the element carrying them.

  • Patent number: 5431454
Abstract: This invention relates to a quick connection of a tube capable of being fitted in a connector, said tube presenting, at a determined distance from its end, a shoulder, whilst the connector comprises an O-ring intended to come into contact with the tube in the zone located between its end and the shoulder. A member for locking the tube is mounted in the connector, said member being axially immobilized with respect to the connector and elastically deformable in the radial direction between an inactive configuration and an active configuration in which it abuts on the shoulder. A bush is mounted to slide in the connector between a first position and a second position remote from the first towards the inside of the connector, said bush presenting a stop disposed on the path of the shoulder of the tube and ensuring, in its first position, hold of the locking member in its inactive configuration, whilst the locking member is released when the bush is in its second position.
