  • Publication number: 20100084587
Abstract: In a fluid-working machine having a high-pressure line and a working chamber, a valve arrangement is arranged to control fluid flow from the high-pressure line to the working chamber. The valve arrangement comprises a main valve having a valve element arranged to provide sealing contact with a valve seat, and an auxiliary valve comprising an electromagnetically-movable valve member for equalising pressure on either side of the main valve by placing the working chamber in direct fluid communication with the high-pressure line. The electromagnetically-movable valve member may comprise a spool valve member or a poppet valve member.

  • Publication number: 20090098609
Abstract: The invention provides cytokine fusion proteins with an increased therapeutic index, and methods to increase the therapeutic index of such fusion proteins. The fusion proteins of the invention are able to bind to more than one type of cytokine receptor expressed on cells and also bind to more than one cell type. In addition, the fusion proteins of the invention exhibit a longer circulating half-life in a patient's body than the corresponding naturally occurring cytokine.

  • Publication number: 20080245322
Abstract: A valvetrain control arrangement for an internal combustion engine. A fluid-working machine (1) has working chambers (3) of cyclically varying volume, each connected to a piston actuator (4) which is capable of moving an intake or exhaust valve in the internal combustion engine. The engine crankshaft (2) drives a crankshaft of the fluid-working machine at the same speed as the engine. Each working chamber (3) is linked to a low-pressure manifold (7) by a venting valve (6), the venting valve being normally open but electromagnetically closable by a signal from an electronic sequencing means (8) which operates in timed relationship to the engine crankshaft phase.

  • Publication number: 20070154473
Abstract: Anti-CD19 B4 antibodies with modified variable regions are disclosed. The modified anti-CD19 variable region polypeptides have alterations to one or more framework regions or complementarity determining regions of the heavy chain variable region or light chain variable region, thereby to reduce a T-cell response.

  • Publication number: 20070154453
Abstract: Modified interleukin-12 (IL-12) p40 polypeptides are disclosed. The modified polypeptides have alterations in the IL-12p40 subunit to eliminate the protease site between positions Lys260 and Arg261. The modified IL-12p40 polypeptides according to the invention have improved stability compared to wild-type mature human IL-12p40 polypeptides.

  • Publication number: 20070104689
Abstract: The present invention provides compositions and methods that elicit an immune response against diseased cells. In particular, the present invention provides compositions and methods for the presentation of a peptide related to survivin on antigen-presenting cells. Presentation of the peptide leads to an immune response in a mammal against cells such as tumor cells overexpressing survivin.
