  • Patent number: 8852456
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the combined production of hydrogen and carbon dioxide from a hydrocarbon mixture, in which the hydrocarbon mixture is reformed to produce a syngas which is cooled, then enriched with H2 and CO2, optionally dried, and treated in a PSA hydrogen purification unit to produce hydrogen, the PSA offgas being treated to capture the CO2 and to supply an offgas. This offgas is again treated to supply a stream enriched with H2 and CO2 which is returned to the PSA, where it constitutes a second feed distinct from the main feed.

  • Patent number: 7758336
Abstract: The invention relates to processes for the combustion of liquid fuels, including a means of using an oxygenated gas in a combustion zone, applicable to steam boilers, which produces a longer, more uniform and cooler oxygen flame than a conventional oxygen flame. According to the invention, the liquid fuel is injected into the combustion zone in atomized form, the fuel being atomized by bringing a stream of fuel into contact with a stream of atomizing fluid, and: prior to its atomization, the liquid fuel has a viscosity of at least 30×10?6 m2/s, the stream of fuel is brought into contact with the stream of atomizing fluid only in the combustion zone, and oxygenated gas is injected into the combustion zone in stages.

  • Publication number: 20100147749
Abstract: The present invention relates to multi-metallic catalyst compositions for improved coke resistance in a hydrocarbon feed pre-reformer unit that comprises nickel and an enhancing component selected from at least one member of the group consisting of ruthenium, palladium, platinum, rhodium, cobalt, gold and silver on a support. The present invention further relates to a catalyst system for improved coke and sulfur resistance in a hydrocarbon feed pre-reformer unit that comprises at least one multi-metallic catalyst composition comprising nickel and an enhancing component selected from at least one member of the group consisting of ruthenium, palladium, platinum, rhodium, cobalt, gold and silver on a support used in conjunction with at least one sulfur capturing component selected from the group comprising copper oxide and zinc oxide. Finally the present invention relates to the use of this catalyst system in a process for pre-reforming a hydrocarbon feed stream.

  • Publication number: 20080244972
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for converting gaseous effluents based on hydrogen arising from at least two reactor units R1 and R2 consuming hydrogen. Said effluents have differing degrees of hydrogen purity. The different hydrogenous effluents are treated in a gas separation unit U for said different hydrogenous effluents, whereupon highly pure hydrogen can be obtained and can be used to feed an additional reactor unit R3. The unit U also produces a residual flow having a low degree of hydrogen purity which can be sent to the combustible gas network of the petrochemical installation.

  • Patent number: 7381242
Abstract: A method of PSA gas separation for a gas mixture containing hydrogen and hydrocarbon impurities. The gas mixture is put in contact with silica gel and activated carbon so as to adsorb the impurities in the gas mixture. Hydrogen rich and waste gas flows are produced. The waste gas flow may be sent to the combustible network of a petrochemical site, without having to make a pressure adjustment to the waste gas.

  • Patent number: 7306651
Abstract: A method of treatment of a gas mixture which contains H2, H2S and possibly of other impurities, such as hydrocarbons. The treatment method is aimed at purifying the hydrogen mixture without incurring a overall pressure loss. The method according to the invention uses a device for pressure swing adsorption where the device includes an integrated compressor. In each adsorber of the device a pressure swing cycle is carried out which includes the steps of: adsorption, decompression, purge, and repressurization.

  • Patent number: 7273511
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for enriching a combustible gas. The gas mixture is initially flowing in a distribution line at a set pressure. Part of the mixture is bypassed to a separate line where it is then compressed. This compressed stream is then treated in a gas separation unit and is injected back into the distribution system at about the set pressure.

  • Publication number: 20050139069
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treatment of a gaseous mixture comprising hydrogen, H2S and possibly other components such as hydrocarbons. The aim of the invention is to separate the hydrogen from the other components of the mixture whilst retaining the initial pressure of the gaseous mixture. According to the invention a treatment unit is used, comprising a pressure-modulated adsorption unit (PSA) with an integral compressor which compresses the recycle gas within the PSA.
