  • Publication number: 20220131765
Abstract: Methods and systems to model, simulate and continuously analyze global non-functional properties, such as profitability, availability, security and performance, of complex Internet of Things (IoT) systems. This modeling enables the collaborative design, interoperability, documentation, simulation, testing, deployment, operations, analysis and optimization of connected services and IoT infrastructures. Various embodiments of the present invention may be characterized as a tool for modeling an IoT system and controlling the evolution of this system. The present invention enables a customer or any entity to describe and simulate an IoT system in different scenarios and, in turn, derive various estimates for what the customer will have to invest. This is of great benefit to entities since building out and implementing a complex IoT system is likely an expensive and time and resource consuming endeavor.

  • Patent number: 9800470
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for implementing in an electronic device that includes a processor and memory. Virtual resources, which are associated with an execution of a user's applications in a cloud resource configuration including virtual machines, network services and storage, are identified. A first topology map of the virtual resources, including a plurality of nodes, is generated. The first topology map, including the nodes, is output. A vector, which is associated with each node, said vector including one or more features associated with each node, is generated. Based upon the vectors, a distribution of the plurality of nodes within two or more groups is determined. A second topology map, including each of the node groups in one of a collapsed format, wherein only a identifier of the node group is output or an expanded format, wherein a portion of the plurality of nodes the node group are output, is output.

  • Patent number: 9762471
Abstract: Virtual resources associated with an execution of a user's applications in a cloud or distributed resource configuration including virtual or physical machines, network services and storage are identified. A source and destination virtual machine, utilized by the user's applications, are determined, and at least one source or destination virtual machine belongs to the identified virtual resources. Measurement software for a virtual machine is downloaded. The measurement software acquires data for connections established in a transport layer for communicating between the source and destination virtual machine. Data acquired from the measurement software is received at a first time, and the data includes measurements of variables for the data communications via the connections. Based upon the measurements, metrics that characterize the data communications at a first time are generated. Measurements made at an additional number of times are also received.

  • Publication number: 20160315817
Abstract: A tool for aiding utilization of communicating equipment includes a resources manager associated with a data structure where an equipment identifier is connected with dated values of utilizable global functional capability of the resource, and dated values of temporarily allocated functional capability. A scheduling tool evaluates an acceptance condition by comparing dates which pertain to a dated functional capability and to the dated series of functional capability maintained in connection with one or more resource identifiers. A resources allocator receives an identified request for temporary reservation of functional capabilities, including a dated suite of functional data, it responds thereto by calling a resources selector for each functional data item of the request, the scheduling tool for some at least of the identifiers of the subset returned by the resources selector; and by returning a set of resource identifiers as response to the reservation request.

  • Publication number: 20140215077
Abstract: Once a potential bottleneck is identified, the system provides a methodology for locating the bottleneck. The methodology involves checking in order each of the application, transport and network layers of a sender and receiver nodes for performance problems. Conditions are defined for each of the layers at the sender and receiver nodes that are indicative of a particular type of bottleneck. When the conditions are met in any one of the layers, the system can be configured to stop the checking process and output a message indicating the presence of a bottleneck in the layer and its location. In addition, the system can be configured to generate and output a remedial action for eliminating the bottleneck. The system can be configured to perform the action automatically or after receiving a confirmation from the user.

  • Publication number: 20140201642
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus that allow users and organizations to access on-demand and in a personalized way to the performance and optionally flow activity measures of an end to end network of virtual resources. The system is configured to generate a UI that provides a mapping and characterization of the network of virtual resources. In one embodiment, a network topology map can be generated in the UI. In another embodiment, a flow map including nodes and flows can be generated in the UI. The UI is configured to provide users with a number of actions that can be implemented to affect the virtual resources. The actions can be presented in the user via menu options or actionable objects. The user can implement high-level actions provided by the UI. Upon receipt of a high-level action, the system is configured to translate the action into a sequence of low-level device commands needed to implement the action. The system can communicate with the low-level devices in the cloud to implement the commands.
