Patent number: 11571662Abstract: A filter module for sterile filtration and virus filtration of fluid media. The filter module includes a filter membrane with a porous edge structure arranged thereon and at least one anchoring element. The filter membrane with the porous edge structure is embedded in the anchoring element and serves as edge reinforcement to improve the connection of the filter membrane to the anchoring element. The texturing or surface roughness of the edge reinforcement provides an interlocking effect between the filter membrane and the anchoring element. The embedding of the filter membrane in the anchoring element provides a fluid-tight connection of the membrane to the anchoring element which prevents the occurrence of leaks in the end region of the filter module. A method for producing the filter module is also described.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2020Date of Patent: February 7, 2023Assignee: SARTORIUS STEDIM BIOTECH GMBHInventors: Paschalis Nikoloudis, Sebastian Handt, Thomas Loewe

Patent number: 10981100Abstract: A filter module with a perforated inner tube (20) and a concentric, perforated outer tube (22), forming an interposed annular gap for a filter membrane (10) pleated into folds. The membrane folds (11, . . . ) are of different fold types with differing fold heights, extend from a respective fold edge (111, . . . ) resting against the outer tube towards the inner tube to the respective fold tip (114, . . . ) and are arranged along the circumference of the annular gap as groups of folds (11, . . . ) of different types. Each group has a mating fold (15) which extends from a mating fold edge (151) resting against the inner tube towards the outer tube to the mating fold tip (154). The height of the mating fold is no more than the difference between the width of the annular gap and the height of the fold type with the shortest height of the same group.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2020Date of Patent: April 20, 2021Assignee: SARTORIUS STEDIM BIOTECH GMBHInventors: Paschalis Nikoloudis, Thomas Loewe, Thomas Friese, Sebastian Handt

Patent number: 10493406Abstract: A filter module (1) has a housing (2) formed from a plastic and a filter (3) made from a plastic is arranged in the housing (2). The housing (2) is bonded adhesively to the filter (3) by an adhesive (15) via a first bonding surface (7, 18) made from a first plastic and via a second bonding surface (14, 19, 21) made from a second plastic. The adhesive bonding of the first bonding surface (7, 18) and the second bonding surface (14, 19, 21) is accomplished via an intermediate piece (10, 20) with the bonding surfaces (14, 18, 21) made from a plastic that is identical to or different from the first plastic. At least one of the bonding surfaces (7, 18, 19, 14, 21) has been activated by plasma or corona pre-treatment prior to the adhesive bonding.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2014Date of Patent: December 3, 2019Assignee: Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbHInventors: Ralf Lausch, Paschalis Nikoloudis, Wilhelm Requate, Johannes Wortmeyer
