  • Patent number: 11665754
Abstract: The present invention introduces a system, which comprises a telecommunication network structure, which can be called as an intelligent combination of Push-To-Talk (i.e. Direct Mode Operation, DMO) communication technique and cellular network application. The DMO can be set as a preferred choice if it is available. The subscriber devices retransmit (i.e. forward) the data message further until the message reaches the called subscriber terminal. The total cumulative hop between subscriber terminals may comprise both DMO-based hops and cellular connections. ID means are provided, and telemetric information can be sent from the terminals. The invention allows emergency information submissions from the terminals, and forced broadcast information from an administrator to the terminals as well. Dynamic Talk Groups (DTG) can be defined based on geographic locations on each registered user.

  • Publication number: 20140365760
Abstract: Communication equipment includes a communication device (112) and a user interface device (101), e.g. a remote speaker-microphone, interconnected via a short-range data link. The user interface device includes a user interface (102) for receiving commands from a user. The user interface device includes a processor (104) for generating event data in accordance with the commands and for combining the event data with a digital data stream whose information is to be transmitted. The processor encrypts the result in accordance with cryptographic control data accessible to the processor. The encrypted digital data stream is delivered to a transceiver of the user interface device in order to transmit it to the communication device. As the encryption is carried out by the processor in accordance with the cryptographic control data, the transceiver does not need provide cryptographic functionality and the communication equipment can flexibly support different cryptographic algorithms.

  • Patent number: 8699432
Abstract: A method and arrangement for connecting an ad-hoc communication network (101) to a permanent communication network (102) via a half-duplex communication link (140). The ad-hoc communication network is established between communication devices (103-106) and a gateway device (107) using a routing protocol that is run in the gateway device and in the communication devices. Relaying of data between the ad-hoc communication network and the permanent communication network is controlled by setting the following relaying operations into a pre-determined order of mutual priority: relaying data from the ad-hoc communication network to the permanent communication network and relaying data from the permanent communication network to the ad-hoc communication network. The pre-determined order of priority facilitates data transfer via the half-duplex communication link between the permanent communication network and the ad-hoc communication network that can be either a full-duplex network or a half-duplex network.

The ad-hoc communication network is established between communication devices (103-106) and a gateway device (107) using a routing protocol that is run in the gateway device and in the communication devices. A protocol address that is associated in a communication device with a protocol data unit is determined on the basis of a control action given by a user of the communication device. In a gateway device, the protocol data unit is relayed to the permanent communication network if the protocol data unit is provided with a pre-determined protocol address. The user of the communication device can determine with the aid of the control action whether he is communicating only inside the ad-hoc communication network or via the permanent communication network.
