  • Publication number: 20120095760
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide scalable and distributed input signal coding activity detection and coding thereof (e.g. VAD/DTX) processing framework. An apparatus comprising an encoder is shown. The apparatus can be a terminal, for example a mobile phone, computer or the like. The apparatus may act as transmitter etc. The apparatus is coupled with a network element (alternatively referred to as an intermediate element or the like). The network element is coupled with apparatuses. The apparatuses can also be terminal devices such as mobile phone, computer or the like. The apparatuses may act as receivers etc. The apparatus comprises a detector configured to detect whether an input signal is active input signal or non-active input signal. There are various different detectors such as the VAD or SAD referred to above.

  • Patent number: 7869993
Abstract: A method and a device for source coding with a time advanced excitation signal. During an encoding process, a source data signal is first divided into consecutive blocks, then a first set of parameters related to a filter describing properties of a first block covering a first time period is extracted, followed by the extraction of a second set of parameters related to an excitation signal for said filter, where said second set of parameters is determined from and describing properties of both the first block and a second block following the first block within a second time period starting later than said first time period and extending outside said first time period.

  • Patent number: 7796626
Abstract: For supporting a decoding of encoded frames, which belong to a sequence of frames received via a packet switched network, it is detected whether a particular encoded frame has been received after a scheduled decoding time for the particular encoded frame and before a scheduled decoding time for a next encoded frame. In case the particular encoded frame is detected to have been received after its scheduled decoding time and before the scheduled decoding time for the next encoded frame, the particular encoded frame is re-scheduled to be decoded at the scheduled decoding time for the next encoded frame.

  • Publication number: 20080298610
Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide methods, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for re-panning multiple audio signals by applying spatial cue coding. Sound sources in each of the signals may be re-panned before the signals are mixed to a combined signal. Processing may be applied in a conference bridge that receives two omni-directionally recorded audio signals. The conference bridge subsequently re-pans one of the signals to the listeners left side and the signal to the right side. The source image mapping and panning may further be adaptively based on the content and use case. Mapping may be done by manipulating the directional parameters prior to directional decoding or before directional mixing. Directional information that is associated with an audio input signal is remapped order to compress input source positions into virtual source positions. The virtual sources may be placed with respect to actual loudspeakers using binaural cue panning.

  • Patent number: 7376554
Abstract: Methods and arrangements are disclosed for digitally encoding and decoding sound—An input signal is split (811) into a primary frequency band and at least one secondary frequency band. The parts of the input signal in the frequency bands are separately encoded. Certain characteristics of the input signal in the primary frequency band and corresponding characteristics of the input signal in at least one secondary frequency band are examined (302, 303, 814) in order to find out, whether there is certain resemblance therebetween. Alternatively certain characteristic features of the process applied to encoding the primary frequency band extracted (305, 813) and used (307) in encoding the secondary frequency band, or such extracted characteristic features are replaced (306, 501, 701, 815) with a locally generated, independent set of corresponding features.
