Abstract: A maritime unit and a method for operating a maritime unit. The maritime unit includes a frame structure. The maritime unit includes at least three legs moveable between a standby position and an extended position. A jack mechanism moves the legs between the standby position and the extended position. The maritime unit has at least its legs operated on a disk brake principle for enabling a substantially stepless drive therefor, whereby the maritime unit has each of its legs provided with a brake system, including one or more brake flanges extending longitudinally of the leg. The maritime unit has its frame structure provided with a brake system including one or more brake shoe elements operable in a vertical direction with the jack mechanism.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a maritime unit (1), said maritime unit comprising a frame structure (2), which is provided with at least power production and/or drive assemblies for the maritime unit, and at least three legs (3) operated by a jack mechanism (5), on the one hand for steadying the maritime unit (1) on the seabed by driving the legs (3) from a standby position, as required by the maritime unit's shipping condition, downwards in a direction substantially vertical with respect to the frame structure (2) and, on the other hand, for releasing the same from the seabed by driving the legs (3) upward relative to the frame structure. The maritime unit (1) has at least its legs (3) upward relative to the frame structure.

Abstract: An evacuation refuge for a maritime unit. A rescue station includes at least one space operable to be completely closed from a surrounding environment for longterm occupation therein. A plurality of life boats are arranged within the rescue station for emergency exit. The life boats are operable to be occupied while inside the rescue station prior to deployment. An openable or removable structure is operable to permit deployment of the life boats arranged within the rescue station by removal of the occupied life boats from the rescue station. Breathing air processing devices are operable to maintain air within the evacuation refuge breathable.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for an improved drilling rig of jack-up type is provided. The drilling rig has a frame part comprising a working deck and an essentially plane-shaped bottom. Three feet are provided in the frame and are operated by lifting devices. The feet support the frame on the sea bottom during a drilling operation and are lifted off the sea bottom when the drilling rig is transported. A drilling unit is movably arranged on the frame part and can be moved substantially outside the frame during a drilling operation. A residence unit is also provided on the frame and is movable in a direction opposite that of the drilling unit at least during the drilling operation. An air bed is blown into an airspace which is arranged below the frame part of the drilling rig. The air bed is dischargeable for transportation of the drilling rig.
