The seal assembly comprises a first ring fixed to the rotating member, a second ring fixed to the fixed element, and a seal element. The seal element is carried by the second ring and is connected to said second ring by means of a fitted portion; the seal element comprises at least one annular pad having an annular seal edge. The annular seal edge projects towards a coupling portion of the first ring and is adapted to cooperate with the coupling portion along a substantially linear area of contact. The seal element further comprises a spring portion adapted to exert an elastic force on the annular pad so as to push the annular seal edge towards the coupling portion.
