  • Patent number: 6174268
Abstract: An exercise device has a resilient member disposed in series between a body supporting member and an underlying floor surface. The resilient member is selectively rotated relative to the body supporting member to adjust the energy absorbing characteristics of the resilient member.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 1999
Date of Patent: January 16, 2001
    Inventor: Pat J. Novak
  • Patent number: 6056085
Abstract: An anchorage is interconnected between a support structure and a safety line. The anchorage accommodates passage of a slotted coupling device movably mounted on the safety line. The safety line may be secured to the anchorage without obtaining access to either end of the line.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 23, 1998
Date of Patent: May 2, 2000
    Assignee: Capital Safety Inc.

  • Patent number: 5344376
Abstract: The present invention provides an exercise apparatus 100 having a turntable 120 rotatably mounted proximate one end of a base 110, and right and left poles 130 and 140 pivotally mounted proximate an opposite end of the base 110. A person stands on the turntable 120, swivels the hips to rotate the turntable 120, and reciprocally pushes and pulls the poles 130 and 140 against resistance provided by an adjustable resistance mechanism 150.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 1992
Date of Patent: September 6, 1994
    Assignee: NordicTrack, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5295931
Abstract: The present invention provides an exercise apparatus having a frame that extends between a front end and a rear end, and is designed to rest upon a floor surface. The frame supports an inclined rail at an angle of greater than five degrees relative to the floor surface. A seat is slidably secured relative to the rail, and the angle of inclination opposes rearward movement of the seat. A load resistant line means is secured at one end to the seat and at another effective end relative to the frame to further oppose rearward movement of the seat.
