  • Publication number: 20080231234
Abstract: A manually generatable lighting device utilizes a pull cord, which is mechanically linked to a motor, to charge a power pack for on-demand illumination of at least one light-emitting diode. The lighting device employs circuitry which enables its use as continuous light source, a night light which illuminates automatically in low-light conditions, or an emergency light which illuminates automatically during power failure. The lighting device includes a power plug and may be stored or illuminated portably or as plugged into a power outlet. Built-in charging circuitry allows electrical recharging of the power pack to a maximum of 4 hours of usage, although the pull cord mechanism extends the possible usage time because it allows the power pack to be manually recharged at any time regardless of the level of stored charge available in the power pack. The lighting device requires only minimal effort to achieve maximum brightness, and two complete actuations of the pull cord can achieve maximum charge.

  • Patent number: 7398714
Abstract: A hand held, one touch jar opener can be placed on a jar and activated with a momentary touch of a button. An epicyclic gear train is set to sequentially provide a grip on a jar, and on a lid, followed by development of torque needed to move the lid in a counterclockwise direction with respect to the jar. The principles embodied in the opener shown can be realized in an opener which can be manually powered, or preferably motorized and possibly highly automated. A differential geartrain provides reduction of speed and increase in torque and then provides two balanced and opposing forces through the epicyclic gear assembly having sun and planet gears. This configuration enables a wide variety of screw-on lids and jars to be automatically closed to match the correct diameters, apply a gripping force and then apply torque in an opposing direction.

  • Publication number: 20080109972
Abstract: An improved pool vacuum includes a filter cone and poppet valve combination which enables quick drainage of water which has passed through and been cleaned by the cleaner's filter. A charging circuit is provided with isolation so that the pool vacuum can be used in an electrolytic environment without battery drainage. A combination charger and hang bracket enables the pool vacuum to be stored in a vertical position to both drain and charge simultaneously. An interstitial open exhaust gap between a rear body and nose-cone shaped front section provides a low pressure drop free exhaust area for an impeller. An optionally obstructed bottom gap portion helps to produce a net downward thrust to assist in using the vacuum in deep pools from a long pole structure.

  • Publication number: 20080085347
Abstract: The preferred embodiment of the present invention involves a device and a process which allows a user to first depress a primary plunger to evacuate essentially all of the air from a chamber in which food items in a marinade are sealably contained. Once the excess air is forced from the container so that the primary plunger is in full contact with the marinade, a locking member is used to fix the position of the primary plunger relative to a lid on the device. A vacuum is then pulled by manually activating a secondary plunger to create a near-full vacuum inside the container. Because essentially all of air is removed from the container before pulling the vacuum, achieving a near-full vacuum can be accomplished in a short amount of time with a minimum amount of effort on the part of the user.

  • Patent number: 7229188
Abstract: A light generating flashlight system device utilizes a large centrally located magnet which is mounted to slide past a magnet pickup or current induction wire which may be preferably mounted at a center point of travel in a tubular housing having a tubular chamber through which the magnet travels. A pair of elastomeric dampers are located each at the end of a support system sleeve which is sized to fit within a main housing to stabilize all internal support within a sealed unit. The result is a device which both facilitates the manual movement of the flashlight body so that the magnet slides past the center magnet pickup or current induction wire, and also conserves the residual momentum of the magnet once it has traveled past the magnet pickup or current induction wire by providing a bumper and spring to conserve some of the mechanical energy going in the other direction. Ninety second of manual activation enables about five minutes of illumination.

  • Patent number: 7226162
Abstract: An audio lanyard audio device provides a number of advantages not seen with earlier devices, including, (1) a pair of soft openings to accept the ear pieces of conventional eyewear in a manner that supports and engages several inches of the ear pieces of conventional eyewear with sufficient surface area and friction to hold the conventional eyewear securely, (2) provision of a length of softer foam material for fitting both the lanyard and convention eyewear ear pieces between the ear and head, (3) formation of a balanced combination when worn with conventional eyewear, and (4) the location of the controls and main electronics and battery at the rear for balance and easy reach by a user.

  • Patent number: 7222986
Abstract: A multiple swivel flashlight provides a stable housing with flat bottom for ready support on most surfaces, as well as a pair of lamp reflector arms which are either conducting or carry conductors to supply the reflectors with the voltage and current needed to drive the lamps. Where the exterior of the support arms are conducting, they are either coated or painted to insulate the exterior. Where the support arms are non-conducting, conductors are either inlaid or attached, preferably along the interior surface of the conductors. The support arms support the reflectors at an angle in order to enable the user to optimally adjust the position of the multiple swivel flashlight.

  • Patent number: 7093554
Abstract: An underwater motive device provides an integrated front cone and handle assembly with a mechanical link between the front cone and handle assembly to the main body of the unit which includes the battery compartment, motor, propeller and guard. The sealing between the cone and handle assembly and main body is accomplished by a double annular projecting seal having a rear ribbed portion extending deep into a slot in the main unit, and a forward more rounded ribbed unit which provides sealing in a front cone and handle assembly chamber. A battery cassette is provided for loading a number of commercially available flash light type cyclindrical cells, the battery cassette having an uneven pentagonal cross section so that it is inserted into a matching uneven pengagonal cross section within the main unit, but only where the battery cassette is of the proper orientation.

  • Patent number: 7000559
Abstract: An underwater motive device provides an integrated and modular battery and motive housing which is carried within an outer housing and secured by a nose cone system. The nose cone system works against an “o” ring seal carried between a structure of the integrated and modular battery and motive housing and the outer housing. A pair of latches act as levers to forcibly push the nose cone in place to seal off the battery compartment, and with cam action when used to urge the nose cone to a disengaged position with respect to the “o” ring seal. Nose cone removal and re-sealing procedure can be accomplished easily, even by those of limited strength.
