    Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and to a method for taking samples of a material such as a liquid, a viscous fluid, or a friable solid. Said device comprises a hollow "sampling" cylinder (10) defining an open cavity, said cavity co-operating with vent-forming means (34) and including inflatable shutter means (20) shaped so that, after said cavity has been filled with said material, they hold said material inside said cavity.
