  • Patent number: 9463995
Abstract: The invention relates to an alloy having high temperature mechanical strength in an oxidizing medium and comprising a carbide-precipitation-strengthened matrix containing chromium. The invention is characterized in that the alloy comprises carbides of at least one metal (M) selected from among titanium, zirconium and hafnium, said carbides also optionally containing (M?) tantalum. The invention is suitable for articles that require high temperature mechanical strength, such as for hot glass processing or production.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 26, 2004
Date of Patent: October 11, 2016

  • Patent number: 8398791
Abstract: Cobalt based alloys exhibiting high-temperature mechanical strength in an oxidizing medium are provided. The alloys are free of W and Hf and include the following elements in percentage by weight of the alloy: 23 to 34% Cr; 6 to 12% Ni; 6.0 to 10% Ta; 0.3 to 1.2% C; less than 3% Fe; less than 1% Si; less than 0.5% Mn; less than 0.1% Zr; and a balance of cobalt and impurities. Ta/C molar ratios of the alloys are at least 0.3.

  • Publication number: 20070292303
Abstract: The process for manufacturing mineral wool by internal centrifuging is characterized in that the temperature of the mineral material in the fiberizing spinner dish is at least 1150° C. and in that the fiberizing spinner dish is made of a cobalt-based alloy comprising the following elements (in percentages by weight of the alloy): Cr 23 ?to 34% Fe less than 3% Ni ??6 to 12% Si less than 1% Ta ??3 to 10% Mn less than 0.5% C 0.2 to 1.2% Zr less than 0.1% W ??0 to 8%, the balance consisting of cobalt and inevitable impurities and the tantalum-to carbon molar ration being at least 0.3. Alloys particularly suitable for this process satisfy the above formula and do not contain tungsten. The alloys according to the invention can be used for other purposes in an oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature of at least 1100° C.
