  • Patent number: 7024932
Abstract: Device for detecting electro-magnetically the level of a material which is conductive, or made conductive, particularly molten glass. The device comprises an inductor (32) creating an alternating current in the material and surrounding the container (24) of the material, at least one magnetic field sensor (52, 54) in the zone delimited by the inductor, this sensor comprising a pair of transductors making it possible to detect the partial differential, along the axis of the inductor, of the radial component of the field, means (68, 70) of demodulating the signals provided by the sensor, demodulation occurring with a phase shift of approximately ?/2 relative to the current supplying the inductor, and means (72, 74, 76) for processing the signals provided by the demodulation means and for providing a signal indicating that the sensor level has been reached by the material.

  • Patent number: 6815572
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of processing organic waste (D) in divided solid and/or liquid form, the method being implemented in a single reactor (1) containing a bath of molten glass (V) surmounted by a gas phase (G), the method comprising incinerating said waste (D) in the presence of oxygen at the surface (S) of said bath of molten glass (V), and in vitrifying said incinerated waste (D) in said bath of molten glass (V). In said method, and in characteristic manner, in addition to the oxygen delivered as oxidizer into said gas phase (G), oxygen is also injected into said bath of molten glass (V) in a quantity that is sufficient to minimize or to avoid any formation of metal within said bath of glass (V); advantageously in a quantity that is sufficient to minimize or to avoid any formation of metal within said bath of glass (V) and also to subject said bath of glass (V) to moderate stirring.

  • Patent number: 6576807
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of processing organic waste (D) in divided solid and/or liquid form, the method being implemented in a single reactor (1) containing a bath of molten gas (V) surmounted by a gas phase (G), the method comprising incinerating said waste (D) in the presence of oxygen at the surface (S) of said bath of molten glass (V), and vitrifying said incinerated waste (D) in said bath of molten glass (V). In characteristic manner, in said method, said waste (D) is introduced into said reactor (1) in association with dual cooling; the device (5) for feeding said reactor (1) with said waste (D) is cooled on its side adjacent to the gas phase (G), advantageously by the circulation of at least one is cooling fluid maintained at a temperature higher than the dew point of said gas phase (G), and it is also cooled, advantageously independently, on its side adjacent to the incoming waste (D).

  • Patent number: 5820652
Abstract: A sealing system for the engagement of a container (24) beneath a melting pot containing a molten material, comprising a shell (30) surrounding a nozzle (40), the nozzle being located in the axis of the neck of the container and permitting the pouring of the material from the melting pot into the container. The shell (30) has tight connection means with the nozzle (40), a base (32) having a bearing surface for the reception of a corresponding bearing surface on the container neck and at least one bellows (33, 34) surrounding the nozzle and connecting the tight connection means to said base, the bellows being able to render the shell retractable along the nozzle axis, means for introducing a gas flow between said bearing surfaces being provided in order to permit the circulation of part of said flow towards the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 5814743
Abstract: A device for taking samples of noxious liquids, notably radioactive liquids. A protective enclosure (7) contains notably a circulation unit (10) in the form of a jet pump supplied by a driving arm (19). The liquid to be analysed is aspirated by an aspiration arm (17) and discharged with a drive liquid via a return arm (18). A sampling flask is pressed under a support plate (9) where the aspiration and return arms (17 and 18) emerge and closes the sampling circuit. This method is recommended above all for viscous liquids, liquid sludges and liquids charged with large size solid particles, since the sample only passes through pipes of an adequate diameter and is not subjected to any mixing or disturbance. A correct sampling is therefore ensured.
