Publication number: 20150225222Abstract: A chamber for receipt and retention of a bottled beverage has a dispensing cartridge that interacts with a bottle to remove air therein to preserve the beverage under vacuum and to dispense the beverage under pressure. The vacuum and air pressure within the bottle is applied through a concentric pair of tubes introduced into the bottle as a part of the dispensing cartridge. A reversible pump is in fluid communication with the tubes. The chamber is maintained at a user-selected temperature using a thermoelectric cooling unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2015Publication date: August 13, 2015Applicant: SUNBEAM PRODUCTS, INC.Inventors: Danene Jaffe, Asoka Veeravagu, Patricia Bassett

Patent number: 7594469Abstract: An apparatus for brewing tea in accordance with an aspect of the invention includes a brew chamber that holds water. An infuser disposed in the chamber holds tea leaves and allows the water to contact the tea leaves. A heater heats the water in the brew chamber. A control sets a tea characteristic of the tea leaves. The tea characteristic can include one or both of tea format (loose or bagged) and tea type. The control can also set tea strength. A control circuit communicates with the heater. The control circuit controls power to the heater to heat the water to a steep temperature and then controls power to the heater to maintain the steep temperature for a steep time. The control circuit determines the steep temperature and the steep time based on the set tea characteristic or characteristics. It can further determine steep time based on the set tea strength. The tea leaves steep in the heated water until the expiration of the steep time to produce a brewed tea.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2006Date of Patent: September 29, 2009Assignee: Sunbeam Products, Inc.Inventors: Christian E. O'Connor, Augusto Picozza, Patricia Bassett

Publication number: 20070277547Abstract: A beverage and cooling dispensing apparatus for holding both containerized and non-containerized beverages including a cooler unit adaptable for holding and cooling containerized products such as bottled and canned beverages and other chilled products, an internal container adaptable for holding non-containerized free-standing beverages which is positionable within the main cooler unit, and a dispensing mechanism accessible from the exterior of the cooler unit for dispensing the non-containerized beverage from the internal container. The internal container includes a first coupling mechanism which is engageable with a second coupling mechanism associated with the dispensing mechanism for providing fluid communication between the dispensing mechanism and the internal container when the first and second coupling mechanisms are engaged.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2006Publication date: December 6, 2007Inventors: Asoka Veeravagu, Patricia Bassett, Phetsouvanh Kounlavong

Patent number: 5399168Abstract: A subcutaneous implantable access port is formed of a housing having a pair of noncircular fluid cavities enclosed therein by a floor, walls upstanding from the floor, and a self-sealing septum positioned above each fluid cavity. The housing is constructed of a base, a septum support, and a cap. An outlet stem exits the base and communicates with the fluid cavities therein. The outlet stem has two prongs formed in a side-by-side configuration extending outwardly from the base. The prongs are formed within the stem channels in fluid communication with the fluid cavities. Protruding radially outwardly from the portion of said prong is a barb. Fluid injected into the fluid cavity through the septum flows through a smooth transition region in which the cross-sectional area is smoothly reduced from the corresponding fluid cavity. A locking sleeve provides radial inward pressure upon the catheter which is slid over the outlet stem, thereby insuring that the catheter remains mounted on the outlet stem.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1992Date of Patent: March 21, 1995Assignee: C. R. Bard, Inc.Inventors: Daniel C. Wadsworth, Jr., Kelly J. Christian, Augustus Felix, Patricia A. Bassett, Craig S. Nevers
