  • Patent number: 9589448
Abstract: A safety and security device is housed on either an unmanned aerial vehicle or its land-based docking station and is combined with a cellular telephone for self-defense purposes. The phone broadcasts both recorded audio and video warnings on the device. A flashing light may be activated on the aerial platform or the docking station. The device may be integrated into a modular unit that combines numerous defensive mechanisms. These defensive mechanisms operate autonomously and respond to perceived threats.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 8, 2015
Date of Patent: March 7, 2017
Inventors: Mark Schneider, Lee Bryan, Patricia L. Scott, Vladimir F. Kogan, Wendy C. Scully, Jack T. Scully
  • Patent number: 9067085
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a way to enhance the photoconductivity and/or the SPF of a semiconductor. By dispersing the semiconductor with a compound having multiple phenyl groups in a polar carrier oil, the semiconductor exhibits greatly improved photoconductivity and/or SPF over dispersions comprising the semiconductor alone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 12, 2009
Date of Patent: June 30, 2015
    Assignee: Eveready Battery Company, Inc
Inventors: Laura A. Spaulding, A. Christopher Pattillo, Patricia L. Scott
  • Patent number: 8945521
Abstract: A composition comprising a physical sunscreen, one or more adjuvants, and a carrier oil is provided. The composition also includes at least one of a compound having multiple phenyl groups, a film former or dispersant, and a silicone surfactant. The composition may also include an organic sunscreen. The combination of these ingredients exhibits an unexpected synergistic effect, in that the photoactive properties of the composition (e.g., SPF, UV absorption) are significantly higher than would be predicted based on the values for each of the components individually.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 20, 2012
Date of Patent: February 3, 2015
    Assignee: Eveready Battery Company, Inc
Inventors: Laura A. Spaulding, Patricia L. Scott, Alissa R. Frontauria
  • Publication number: 20130101532
Abstract: A composition comprising ethylhexyl methoxycrylene, a compound with multiple phenyl groups, and a carrier oil is provided. The composition may also include an organic sunscreen. The combination exhibits an unexpected synergistic effect, in that the photoactive properties of the composition (e.g., SPF, UV absorption) are significantly higher than would be predicted based on the values for each of the components individually.

  • Patent number: 8197125
Abstract: A method of analyzing metal oxides. In this method, metal oxide is provided, heated with microwaves, and a conductivity parameter of the metal oxide is determined. From the conductivity parameter, a determination is made regarding a pyroelectric effect of the metal oxide.

  • Publication number: 20100119465
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a way to enhance the photoactivity of a semiconductor. By dispersing the semiconductor with a compound having multiple phenyl rings in a polar carrier oil, the semiconductor exhibits greatly improved photoactivity and/or SPF over dispersions comprising the semiconductor alone.
