Abstract: The present invention relates to the monitoring of photovoltaic systems, and in particular provides a system for determining the operating state of a solar photovoltaic module that include means for acquiring a voltage signal, operatively connected to a voltage output of said solar photovoltaic module; and a processor operatively connected to said means for acquiring said output voltage signal which, by using Fourier transforms and reference spectra, determines the operating state of the solar photovoltaic module. The present invention further provides a method for determining the operating state of solar photovoltaic modules.
