Publication number: 20210173074Abstract: Multi-function waveforms possessing simultaneous radar and communication capabilities provide the means with which to efficiently combat congestion of the spectrum. Here a joint coding/spatial diversity radar/communication waveform design approach is introduced for use with digital antenna arrays. The proposed approach combines the recently developed phase-attached radar/communication (PARC) approach with the far-field radiated emission design (FFRED) formulation to realize the transmission of multiple independent data streams in arbitrary spatial directions concurrently with active radar sensing that is minimally impacted. The resulting physical signals emitted from the elements of the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) array have a desirable structure that is constant-modulus and have improved spectral containment relative to the original FFRED formulation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2020Publication date: June 10, 2021Inventors: Cenk Sahin, Patrick McCormick, Justin Metcalf

Patent number: 10886795Abstract: A stator comprises multiple, stacked laminations, which collectively define a core having a number of posts arranged circumferentially about the core. Each post extends into two prongs defining a first slot between the prongs. The spacing between each posts and its two prongs defines a second slot having a radially inner and outer slot. The outer slot geometry has an increasing width extending radially outward from the radially inner end, and transitioning to a decreasing width extending to the radially outer end.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2017Date of Patent: January 5, 2021Assignee: Hunter Fan CompanyInventors: Garrett Patrick McCormick, Ren Hong Wang

Patent number: 10816019Abstract: A hydraulic system (e.g., of an aircraft or other vehicle) includes a pump, a pressure line coupled to the pump and configured to distribute pressurized hydraulic fluid, and a return line configured to return hydraulic fluid to a reservoir. The hydraulic system also includes an auxiliary leakage valve coupled to the pressure line, to the return line, and to an actuator. The auxiliary leakage valve is configured to receive a control signal and, based on the control signal, selectively open a restricted fluid path. The restricted fluid path couples the pressure line to the return line to allow a restricted amount of the hydraulic fluid to flow from the pressure line to the return line.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2018Date of Patent: October 27, 2020Assignee: THE BOEING COMPANYInventors: Matthew D. Patent number: 10471229Abstract: A patient transfer device is configured for use with at least one host device which is capable of providing respiratory support to a patient. The patient transfer device includes an inspiratory port and an expiratory port which are configured to pneumatically connect to the host. An inspiratory connection is pneumatically connected to the inspiratory port and an expiratory connection is pneumatically connected to the expiratory port. An inspiratory valve is coupled between the inspiratory port and the inspiratory connection and expiratory valve is coupled between the expiratory port and the expiratory connection. The inspiratory valve and the expiratory valve are operable between first configurations that permit flow there though and second configurations that occlude flow through the valves. The inspiratory valve and the expiratory valve are configured to operate in the second configuration when the patient transfer device is disconnected from the at least one host device.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2014Date of Patent: November 12, 2019Assignee: GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANYInventors: Timothy Patrick McCormick, Bradley Baum, Andreas Tzanetakis
