Patent number: 7032047Abstract: A method of regulating usage and/or concession eligibility in a smart card system is described herein. A card acceptance location (110) detects a presence of a smart card and determines its identification code. The card acceptance location (110) checks the identification code against a list stored locally at the card acceptance location (110). The card acceptance location (110) received the list from a second device. If the identification code of the smart card is listed on the list, the card acceptance location (110) performs an action on the smart card.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2001Date of Patent: April 18, 2006Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Sam Joseph DiRaimondo, Ramy Peter Ayoub, Michael Joseph Crowley, Thomas Patrick McGovern, Clark David Elmore, Steven Lee Mayes

Patent number: 6910852Abstract: A method facilitates assembling a gas turbine engine. The method comprises providing a rotor assembly including a rotor shaft and a rotor disk that includes a radially outer rim, a radially inner hub, and an integral web extending therebetween, wherein the rotor assembly is rotatable about an axis of rotation extending through the rotor shaft, and coupling a disk retainer including at least one discharge tube to the rotor disk wherein the discharge tube extends outwardly from the disk retainer for pumping the air to a higher pressure before discharging cooling fluid therefrom in a direction that is substantially perpendicular with respect to the axis of rotation.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2003Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Peter Andrew Simeone, Dean Thomas Lenahan, Jeremy Stephen Wigon, Alan Patrick St. Hilaire, Dennis Centeno Iglesias, James Patrick McGovern

Patent number: 6761034Abstract: A method enables a structural cover for a gas turbine engine to be manufactured. The method includes forming a torroidial body including an integrally-formed windage cover portion and a seal flange portion, and forming a plurality offastener openings extending from a forward side of the torroidial body to an aft side of the torroidial body, such that when installed in the gas turbine engine, the windage cover portion facilitates shielding the fastener openings from a gas flow path.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2002Date of Patent: July 13, 2004Assignee: General Electroc CompanyInventors: David Andrew Niday, Scott Patrick Ryczek, James Patrick McGovern, Gary Charles Liotta, Gianni Busso

Publication number: 20020196943Abstract: A telephone network and a method and system for its use is disclosed. In a first aspect of the present invention, a telephone network is disclosed. The telephone network includes an internet service provider (ISP) coupled to a local switching exchange. The local switching exchange receives and transmits calls to a plurality of devices. The network includes a plurality of modems coupled to the ISP. The network also includes a plurality of phone systems. Each of the phone systems including a cordless unit and a base station. Each of the plurality of phone systems also is associated with one of the plurality of modems, wherein a call can be routed to or from each of the cordless units through any of the modems to any of the plurality of devices. In a second aspect, a method and system for sending a call from a phone system to a device is disclosed. The phone system comprises a cordless unit and a base station. The phone system is also coupled to a modem.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2001Publication date: December 26, 2002Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David Carroll Challener, Jeffrey W. Patent number: 6202163Abstract: A data processing circuit (201) is shown having elements (315, 310) which operate in response to decoded instruction while receiving clocking signals. Instruction types are identified and clocking signals to at least one of the elements is enabled or disabled in dependence upon whether the element is required for the execution of the identified instruction type.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1998Date of Patent: March 13, 2001Assignee: Nokia Mobile Phones LimitedInventors: Rebecca Gabzdyl, Richard Lansdowne, Brian Patrick McGovern

Patent number: 6145076Abstract: A data processing circuit is arranged to execute program instructions defining nested loops. A loop is defined in terms of a start address, an end address and a number of loop iterations. The processing circuit includes a program counter and a plurality of loop counting elements. Each of the loop counting elements includes a start address register, an end address register, a loop iteration register and means for comparing the value stored in the respective end address register with the output from the program counter.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1998Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Assignee: Nokia Mobile Phones LimitedInventors: Rebecca Gabzdyl, Brian Patrick McGovern, Matti Juhani Vehvilainen

Patent number: 6038675Abstract: A data processing circuit includes a first set of processing elements and a second set of processing elements. A clock provides common clocking signals to the processing elements, however, the first set of elements are clocked by rising edges of the clocking signals and the second set of elements are clocked by falling edges of the clocking signals.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1998Date of Patent: March 14, 2000Assignee: Nokia Mobile Phones LimtedInventors: Rebecca Gabzdyl, Brian Patrick McGovern

Patent number: 5170326Abstract: An electronic module assembly (50) has a bendable base plate (52) upon which circuit components (76) are mounted. A module enclosure device (56) mates with the base plate and has an integrally formed, non-removable support arm (96). During assembly, the base plate (52) is bent around the support arm (96) in a "C" shape. Thus formed, the base plate (52) and the module enclosure device (56) form an internal cavity that holds the circuit components (76).Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1991Date of Patent: December 8, 1992Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Keith A.
