  • Patent number: 5558873
Abstract: A soft tissue having a soothing feel is disclosed which contains a softening composition comprising from about 20 to about 98 weight percent glycerin and from about 0.2 to about 5 weight percent of a selected quaternary ammonium compound.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 1995
Date of Patent: September 24, 1996
    Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Corporation
Inventors: Barbara S. Funk, Duane G. Krzysik, Patrick A. Pazdernik
  • Patent number: 4916005
Abstract: The present invention provides a distinctive absorbent article which includes a backsheet layer which delimits at least one waistband portion of the article. A substantially liquid-permeable topsheet layer is located in facing relation with an inner surface of the backsheet layer, and an absorbent body is located between the topsheet layer and the backsheet layer. An elastic member, which is connected to the waistband portion, is composed of an elastomeric, nonwoven fibrous web material, and is constructed and arranged to shirr the waistband portion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 15, 1989
Date of Patent: April 10, 1990
    Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Corporation
Inventors: Mary E. Lippert, Kenneth M. Enloe, Debra J. Koch, Thomas H. Roessler, Patrick A. Pazdernik

  • Patent number: 4753649
Abstract: An article, which includes a refastenable adhesive tape fastening system, comprises an adhesive tape tab which has a peel force value of at least about 11.7 N, and a substrate layer which is composed of a nonwoven synthetic polymer material. The substrate layer has a matte finish, and has a tensile load capacity which is substantially unable to prevent tearing thereof when the tape tab is peeled from adhesive contact with the substrate layer. A reinforcement layer has a first major surface bonded to the substrate layer, and has a second major surface which is appointed for adhesive bonding with the adhesive tape tab. The reinforcement layer also has a matte finish and a yield tensile strength of at least about 15 MPa. The reinforcement layer and substrate layer thereby form a composite, reinforced substrate having a composite tensile load capacity capable of withstanding the peeling removal of the adhesive tape tab substantially without tearing.
