  • Patent number: 7879391
Abstract: An apparatus and process are used to make tape which can be used as cap plies, breakers and reinforcement in the carcass of tires. The tape is made by dipping a plurality of single end cords in a solvent-based cement. The cords are converged before entering the dip pan so that they are fixed in a single plane when they are dipped. The cement, which contains solvent and an elastomeric composition, is dried so that the majority of the solvent evaporates. The elastomeric composition remains, encapsulating the cords, thereby forming the tape.

  • Patent number: 7117972
Abstract: The invention provides a vibration isolation mount for a motorized garage door opener system. The mount includes a substantially planar first mounting plate with apertures configured for mounting to structure inside a garage, and a substantially planar second mounting plate with threaded bolt shafts or other mounting elements configured for mounting to motor mounting structure mounted to a drive motor for use in the system. A vibration isolation material, which may be a natural or synthetic rubber, is disposed between the first and second mounting plates to isolate noise and vibration produced by the motor from the structure mounting the assembly to the interior of the garage.

  • Patent number: 6894439
Abstract: A portable power converter comprising input means to receive low voltage DC input, voltage converter means for converting the low voltage DC input into high DC voltage output, the voltage converter means in electrical communication with the input means, output means for operably supplying the high DC voltage to an appliance. The output means is in electrical communication with the converter includes a housing adapted to receive at least one of the input means, the voltage converter means and the output means. Preferably, the portable power converter also includes processing means for controlling some of the functions of the device such as shutting it down when power falls below preselected threshold. The device may also include a remote control which may be manually activated or in an alternative embodiment activated by external environment stimuli.

  • Patent number: 6879122
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the operation of a garage door opener is disclosed wherein a micro-controller de-energizes a garage door drive motor for a first period when a stop command is received while the garage door drive motor is energized and the garage door is travelling in a first direction. The micro-controller then energizes the drive motor to move the garage door in the opposite direction from the first direction for a second period. The micro-controller then de-energizes the drive motor, placing the door in a static state.

  • Patent number: 6753668
Abstract: A garage door drive assembly for moving a linkage arm connected to a garage door, the assembly being adapted for shipping in a partially assembled condition in at least a box for on-site installation, the assembly has a longitudinally-extending rail with laterally extending flanges. The assembly also has a carriage shaped to fit about the flanges. A drive mechanism is movably mounted to the rail. An anchor is coupled to the drive mechanism. The assembly also has a coupler with a selectively releasable connection to the anchor, a connector pivotably connectable to the linkage arm, and a detachable connection enabling the coupler to be fixedly secured to and carried by the carriage. The rail and the carriage may be shipped to the installation site in a box having a smaller cross-sectional profile than would be required to accommodate the carriage and coupling in their connected state.

  • Publication number: 20010049634
Abstract: An on-line interactive network community for the integrated purchase and sale of metals, particularly steel, is disclosed. The community provides an on-line supply chain of steel from raw products producers through the eventual end user customer for steel products. Buyer members and seller members after they have been qualified to participate and are assigned their unique member identifications, and sale of products, such as steel coils, by means of the electronic system. A complete legally binding contract is created between the buyer and seller, including all the terms and conditions necessary to transfer the product from buyer to seller. Buyer members are given the option to purchase steel products from an on-line product catalog by either an auction mechanism or a fixed-price product guide.
