  • Patent number: 8544992
Abstract: A fluid cartridge for a printing device includes a housing including a floor, a chamber defined in the housing and configured to store an ink therein, a capillary medium disposed in the housing and in operative communication with the chamber, and a wick disposed at least partially in an opening of the floor, the wick including a portion extending a predetermined distance into the housing such that the wick portion contacts the capillary medium. The fluid cartridge further includes an enriched pigment-confining member established inside the housing such that the confining member physically contacts the floor and surrounds at least a portion of a periphery of the wick. The confining member is configured to i) block enriched ink from the wick, and/or ii) dilute the enriched ink prior to flowing through the wick.

  • Patent number: 8530970
Abstract: A method for reducing areas of high field density in an integrated circuit is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes forming a first curvilinear wiring structure in a first interconnect layer of an integrated circuit. A second curvilinear wiring structure may be formed in a second interconnect layer of the integrated circuit, such that the first and second curvilinear wiring structures are substantially vertically aligned. The first curvilinear wiring structure may then be electrically connected to the second curvilinear wiring structure.

  • Patent number: 8200314
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for locating the position, preferably in three dimensions, of a sensor by generating magnetic fields which are detected at the sensor. The magnetic fields are generated from a plurality of locations and, in one embodiment of the invention, enable both the orientation and location of a single coil sensor to be determined. The present invention thus finds application in many areas where the use of prior art sensors comprising two or more mutually perpendicular coils is inappropriate.

  • Publication number: 20120102427
Abstract: A method and system provide automated claim chart generation. The method and system import claims and related information regarding at least one patent The method and system create an initial claim chart for the patent, receive user edits to the claim elements of the claims, and process the user edits to the claim elements. After detecting a user edit to an element a first claim that is repetitive of a second claim, the method and system automatically update the corresponding element of the second claim. The method and system create a product template that includes product identifiers, product characteristics, and evidence showing that the products have the product characteristics. The method and system perform a case analysis, receive an input mapping the product characteristics to the claim elements in the initial claim chart, and generate a claim infringement analysis chart combining the mapped claim elements and the product characteristics.

  • Patent number: 8137791
Abstract: A structure and method of forming the structure. At least one copper wire is formed within a first dielectric layer of a substrate. The top surface of each copper wire and of the first dielectric layer are essentially coplanar. A recess is formed in the first dielectric layer from the top surface of each copper wire to a recess depth less than a thickness of each copper wire within the first dielectric layer such that the recess surrounds a perimeter surface of each copper wire. A capping layer, which is a copper diffusion barrier, is formed in the recess and on the top surface of each copper wire and on the first dielectric layer. A second dielectric layer is formed on the capping layer. The recess depth has a magnitude sufficient to prevent a lateral fail of the capping layer during packaging and/or operation of the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20110198015
Abstract: This invention provides designs which can be applied to surfaces, especially the surfaces of vehicles, in which the designs can partially or completely light up, due to the use of electroluminescent material, and a method for installing such designs. The designs are not limited to applications on vehicles, but can be applied to any surface that can be painted.

  • Patent number: 7898265
Abstract: A microwave paint thickness sensor includes a single cylindrical cavity, a microwave source, and a signal detector. The cylindrical cavity is open at one end, the open end having a choke joint for interfacing with a painted surface. The cylindrical cavity is designed so that the electronic field is normal to the painted surface. In a preferred embodiment, this is accomplished by providing an optimally designed TM011 mode cavity. In this configuration, the resonant frequency of the cavity is linearly related to the inverse of the paint thickness. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the resonant cavity is optimally sized to resonate at a frequency where the sensor footprint can be minimized. Thus with the use of the choke joint, the small sensor interface area of the present invention may easily be applied to a curved surface.
