    Abstract: A journal for coupling a wheel to an axle includes a main body portion and a separate locking element mounted to the main body portion. The locking element includes a locking arm and an integral resilient leaf spring. The locking element is pivotable about a pivot axis A-A extending through a pair of pivot extensions between a release position and a secured position. In the release position, the axle is movable into and out of a reception space within the main body portion. In this release position, the leaf spring bears against the main body portion to bias the locking arm towards the secured position. In the secured position, the locking arm engages with a groove in the axle to secure the axle in position in the reception space.

When the tooth of the locking element is engaged in the groove withdrawal of the axle is prevented.

    Abstract: In a method of blow moulding, a parison is extruded by pushing a hollow tube of hot thermoplastic material through a die gap 2 between a mandrel 3 and die 1. An exit compression ring 5 is formed on the mandrel 3 adjacent to the die exit 2. The ring acts as a flow enhancer to ensure free flow of the thermoplastic material. Outer surfaces of the die 1 and mandrel 3 may be provided with release strips 9, 10 to prevent the parison becoming stuck to the die face.

    Abstract: A parison 4 of hot thermoplastics material is delivered into a mould 1 comprising two mould halves 2, 3 which are closed towards one another. A stress force is applied to the wall of the parison 4 either by a projection 5 extending from one of the mould halves 3 and/or by blowing air at a low pressure against the parison 4 through a blow pin 10. The parison 4 is then penetrated by the blow pin and high pressure air is blown through the blow pin 10 to inflate the parison 4 against the mould halves 2, 3. The blow pin 10 is withdrawn and a formed article such as a case is released from the mould after a preset time.
