  • Patent number: 10406728
Abstract: A shim for a compression mold for manufacturing a component from reinforced plastic, typically from SMC, comprising a fixed molding element, a mobile molding element, and a mobile shim that can be moved by an actuator. The mobile shim comprises a conventional part made of steel but also a part made of a high expansion material with a mean coefficient of expansion that is high enough that its own expansion at the molding temperature places the shim in compression against the molding element and seals against this element, thus eliminating flash on the molded part. This material is advantageously a polyetheretherketone, or PEEK. A mold comprising this shim and a compression molding method are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9855683
Abstract: A mold for producing a floor made from a polymer material for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one metal insert in the form of sheet metal that is partially overmolded, i.e. having a portion intended to be covered with polymer material and a portion intended to not be covered in this way, the mold comprising a die and a punch defining a cavity, the cavity comprising a location intended to receive the portion of a metal insert intended to be covered with polymer material, wherein the mold, in this location of the cavity, comprises gadroons on the die and on the punch, the gadroons having a thickness that is greater than a predefined minimum thickness (H). The invention also concerns a floor obtained by this method.

  • Publication number: 20150336304
Abstract: A mold for forming a motor vehicle part from a polymer material comprising at least one partially overmolded metal insert having a portion intended to be covered with polymer material and a portion intended to be left uncovered. The insert comprises an overmolding limit and the mold comprises a die and a punch capable of taking different positions between: an open position for introduction of inserts and polymer material in the mold, and a molding position wherein the mold cavity is closed, the mold comprising holding means and blocking area at least one movable part and at least one projection extending over a sealing area completely including the insert overmolding limit, to prevent the polymer material from crossing the sealing area seeping between the part of the insert intended to not be covered and one of the opposite faces of the holding means and of the blocking area.

  • Publication number: 20110298244
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing an overmoulded part that defines a structural part for a motor vehicle, comprising: a moulding step during which at least one member of the part is moulded from a first material containing a thermosetting material, using a mould shaped so that at least one portion of the member forms a material web, an overmoulding step during which a second material containing a thermoplastic material is overmoulded on at least one of the material webs of the member so that the material web is torn under the pressure of the second material, a passage for the second material being then formed through the member. It also concerns a structural part for a motor vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20080038510
Abstract: The composite is made of a plastics material and a fabric of reinforcing fibers embedded in the plastics material. The fibers of the fabric and the plastics material are selected in such a manner that when the composite is at rest, the fibers are bonded to the plastics material, while on stress above a certain level being applied to the composite, the fibers separate from the plastics material over a certain length without breaking. The invention also relates to a motor vehicle floor made of such a composite.

  • Patent number: 6461140
Abstract: A system for injecting a composite substance inside a forming mould comprising a supplying device and at least one measuring device and which includes at least one line formed of articulated tube sections which are double-sheathed so as to enable a heat exchanging fluid to circulate therein. The system enables limitation of head loss and control of temperature of the composite substance. A device injecting the substance inside the mould can be mounted on a movable part of the mould.
